I don't think so, we don't want people ringing the police telling tales on their neighbours.

Leave it up to us, most people understand the situation and that covid is especially active in south-east Wales at the moment and will be sensible.

We are in this position because people are stupid and selfish. The message should be "party hard over Christmas, kill your grandparents in the new year"

The problem is stupid people will do stupid things regardless of the rules if they don't understand how covid spreads and that it could kill their elderly relatives by now, I guess they never will?

Some people might not have seen their parents for a year, if they are sensible in the build-up, I can understand people wanting to go ahead and enjoy Christmas with them.

I agree the government's are trying to give people a Christmas ,use common sense don't spoil it , unfortunately some people will have parties no matter what

No offence, but the government are not"giving" people christmas!!they knew full well that vast numbers would visit families at this time, regardless of any rules.
Is the virus taking five days off then?? What about this new stronger variant they are talking about?
But calling people "granny killer" etc really helps I suppose??

Drakeford has just announced he wants only 2 families to meet for Christmas, and virtual full lockdown from 28th December, gyms, hospitality, and non-essential shops shut.

He said a record number of covid patients in hospital and record numbers in intensive care, the NHS is struggling and probably won't be able to cope, they are sounding out England to be able to use English hospitals if they are full.

And what happens if you haven’t got grandparents? Just party hard?

People will only be able to meet two households plus an additional single person household in Wales over the festive period by law.

The Welsh government has clarified that guidance set by the first minister on Wednesday will be set out in regulations.

It comes despite earlier reports that the four UK nations had agreed to allow three households to meet.

The relaxation in the rules have been planned for 23-27 December.

I think they should but if they do that then they become the Turkeys that voted for Christmas and they know, having already promised people something resembling Christmas, that to back track 1 week before will do untold damage to their political future.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but maybe the question should be "Were they right to make the promise of this Christmas relaxation of rules?"

Right now our country like so many throughout the world have allowed this virus to get out in the lead, a lead we know to be about 10-14 days, it's likely that it was only through the summer months that we actually caught up with the virus.

Boris, Drakeford and Sturgeon ALL know that as far as new infections and the pressure on the NHS goes the first 2 weeks of January are pretty much set in stone. By fiddling around with Tiers, and deciding on lockdowns immediately after Christmas they are allowing the virus to get further ahead so, as in the case of Wales it will be mid January before we see the full impact of NOT cancelling Christmas NOW. This means that our lockdown will have to be for ALL of January and maybe longer to get any chance of catching up with the virus which for the next 11 days will have free reign.

The thing is the 3 of them have been clever here because by telling us ALL have a Merry LITTLE Christmas they have within that built a wonderful alibi, when it goes up in flames they will ALL say we told you what to do but did you listen NO.

No one doubts that some people will push the relaxation of restrictions to the limit and beyond but I think the majority WILL listen to the advice, but these next 6 days will see mayhem in our shopping centres and keeping control of social distancing will be impossible, people WILL catch the virus and they WILL take it home with them and the spike in infections WILL become a self fulfilling prophecy.

Make no mistake come January ALL 3 of our leaders will pull out their alibi and play the blame game, it's ALL your fault for not listening to us. I can hear them saying it already.

So I don't think they should have made the offer of a Christmas relaxation in the first place and I think we should all prepare for a terrible start to 2021. God Bless our NHS because we are going to need them more than anytime in it's history during the coming months.

Christmas is a religious festival - nothing any medical expert, politician or media pundit can say or do to 'cancel' it. [As much as they like to think they can].

It's flying at the moment, I know 13 people that have it right now!!!

It's going to go through the roof at Christmas, and I can't see Drakeford wanting to release the lockdown for months!

The only positive I can see at the moment is by April we will have herd immunity in the under 30's as they will have almost all had at, and herd immunity in the over 65's as they will all have had the vaccines, we could be back to some normality then by August/September as the rest either catch it or get the vaccine?
