But it feels like it twice the cost this year. I take it this is down to my WAG mates down the bay knowing what's best for me.![]()
Bought another box of Peroni instead

its minimum unit price... the formula is MUP { 50 PENCE } X STRENGTH { bow is 4.5 X VOLUME IN LITRES SO A 440 ML CAN IS .44 = 99P MINIMUM PRICE...
so the least you will pay in wales for a box of 18 is £17.82.... or you can buy the same box in a tesco across the bridge for £10 if you have a clubcard...

I'd noticed how much supermarket beer had gone up and assumed it was the super markets taking advantage of the Covid shite maybe with some supply issues thrown in. When searched see wales minimum pricing came in in March, under the cover of covid. Drippy lucky this is more widely known.

I remember people doing the duty free runs over to Calais and coming back with a van load then flogging it all. You'll have people going over the bridge to do that soon.

Id imagine its Westminster,
but does it generate extra tax revenue? If people reduced their consumption proportionately then the revenue would be the same. I think the WAG measure it as a long term saving on the nhs rather than an increase in revenue.

It's not a 'tax'. The extra revenue will go to the retailer, e.g. the supermarkets.
