Jay Bothroyd questions Cardiff City’s Commitment

Sat Dec 12, 2020 8:49 pm

In response to a video posted by the club's official Twitter account, accompanied by the Joe Ralls quote, "All the boys are aware of what local derbies are like and this one is a really special one," Bothroyd replied: "Really?"

Manager Neil Harris apologised to Bluebirds fans following the match.

Harris said he knew exactly what the derby meant to supporters and he was sorry he was unable to give them something to cheer about during a difficult period.

But when asked if he thought his players were outbattled and outfought on derby day, Harris replied: "I don't think we were outfought or outbattled, I think they did the basics slightly better than us.

"There were a lot of times the ball dropped and a white shirt was there quicker than us.

"That's why I've said about looking at myself, 'Did I pick the right team? Did we have the right energy levels? Did we cover the ground quick enough?'

I loved Jay, but he throws the commitment word around more as a fan than he did as a player

if he is serious then drop that 11 from the Birmingham game. I personally would not care if we get stuffed 6-0 by the Brum Wednesday night. The thought of those 11 being humiliated would far out way losing 6-0.

To be honest we questioned jay bothroyd attitude at times when he was playing for us he was always sulking if things didn’t go his way

He saw the game sitting on his arse most of the time .

Aye, until he was needed in that Play Off Final (v Blackpool) and he went missing in action! :(

Loved him as a player for us overall though and he got that England cap because of it! :ayatollah:

‘A white shirt was there quicker than us’... Neil’s view on our pedestrian midfield. In fact they’re so slow, each should live way past 125 years..

Jay’s commitment to us? He couldn’t wait to go to that big club QPR on a free after they offered him more money!

Play off final.

A few derbies he played in.

Anything after his England cap.

Those in glass houses and that so f**k off Jay.

there were big doubts that he would play at all...most of us had our fingers crossed that he would, even if injured..which is what he did do....

Maybe, but for the Jacks games he was always up for it. He was our best player when we lost at their place 3-2 scoring a great goal and for the Chopra game he made the first goal and gave their CBs a torrid time.

He understood the importance and put that bit extra in.

I can’t think of a single player yesterday who even played to their usual level never mind put a bit extra in !!
