Robert Glatzel: Cardiff City is 'almost like my second home'

BBC

Friday 4th December 2020

Robert Glatzel's goal against Huddersfield was his first since scoring against Blackburn on 7 July

German striker Robert Glatzel says Cardiff City is like a "second home" now following his move from Bundesliga Two club Heidenheim in July 2019.

The 26-year-old broke his goal drought to score his first of the campaign in the Bluebirds' 3-0 win against Huddersfield on Tuesday evening.

Despite the lack of form, Glatzel says he loves being in Cardiff and has adjusted to the different culture.

"I love the team and I love the city," said Glatzel.

"It's almost like my second home. It has already been such a great experience for me, I just hope that I can give back more on the field.

"I'm not 100% happy with how everything has worked out until now, but I'm not giving up."

Despite feeling settled in the Welsh capital, Glatzel admitted it is "not easy to watch" as Wales international Kieffer Moore continues to impress.

As well as Moore's four goals in the last four games, manager Neil Harris has also turned to academy product Mark Harris ahead of Glatzel in recent matches.

But the German striker insists all the forwards at the club support each other despite the competition for places.

ROBERT GLATZEL:

"It's a good professional relationship," said Glatzel.

"Three strikers and everybody wants to do the best and hopes the best for each other.

"It's not easy to sit on the bench most of the time.

"You have to accept it and accept the challenge, not give up, give your best and that's how it is to be a professional.

"That's my situation at the moment. I have to keep working hard and wait for my chance to come."

Good attitude and honest assessment.
Great to see Bobby is settled at the club. :bluescarf:

Said as much on another thread 62r,a nice lad, with an attitude that a couple of our players need to adopt, like Murphy for instance.
He will play his part this season,And as he says, great to have strikers all wishing the others the best, even when not getting regular games,as he has.

I always thought he was a good player, and is starting to show it-needs more opportunities now. :bluebird: :bluescarf:

If he played as well as he speaks and his talent matched his attitude we would have a great player on our hands. Everyone wants him to do well but unfortunately at this level he is not good enough for a promotion team. He would probably have a very good career at somewhere like Millwall or Charlton flicking between leagues

He’s a front foot player. He’s not suited to a more defensive system like we have been playing since he’s been here.
He took his goal VERY well the other night. If we continue to play the way we have been the last two games he’ll contribute/be involved much more

You nailed it Jimmy, I can't understand why other fans cannot see this. And as for his attitude, absolutely what we need in EVERY player at our club. A previous poster alluded to a classic example of what is not needed in a player, especially so if he cost our club multi-millions!!! Nuff said..... :bluebird:
