O/T Washington Redskins

I absolutely love all things sports and collecting memorabilia from all around really. Football (Cardiff only obviously haha) rugby, cricket, ice hockey etc

I have recently bought a Redskins NFL hat. Big logo and the word "Redskins" across the front.

I have suddenly become aware of the "controversy" surrounding the club over the use of name and image and the recent changes that have been made.

Am I going to be able to wear this hat or am I going to be seen as 'racist'? I'm not trying to start an argument here but I genuinely want to know if I'm going to have problems going out and about in it.

I only bought it cause it was a bit of memorabilia I didn't have, plus it was warm

I doubt many people over here could even name an NFL team, let alone identify the connection between your hat and the NFL team. Secondly the controversy comes from the name being used as a slur about native Americans, a group you're very unlikely to find wandering the streets of Cardiff.

You'll be fine I would imagine.
