I watched Chorley beat Peterbrough yesterday.
The emotion their players and coaching staff had at full time showed it still matters.

And that is great but i fear they are in the minority which is a great shame
I still remember the thrill of listening to the third round draw on the radio at lunchtime when i was in school. No fuss. Just the sound of 64 balls being shaken around in a cloth bag and a couple of old buffers from the FA calling out the numbers they had pulled out while a bloke with a posh accent announced the names of the clubs they represented. "No 9- Cardiff City--------will play ----- No 1 ---Arsenal!!

I'd take a cold rainy Tuesday night away to Scunthorpe in a heartbeat right now if meant we could actually get there!

isnt it strange that no matter what celeb players they get in to do the draw and how much they spend on trying to big it up the excitement and anticipation get nowhere near the levels we experienced listening to what youve described..

If the recent past is anything to go by Neil Harris will say he takes the cup very seriously wonderful competition etc before fielding a weak side which will lose 2-0 not really trying at all. I refer anyone to our performance against Northampton in the league cup. The main consolation will be as with Northampton no one will have wasted any money travelling to the match.

I would say it was Dave Jones. Malky took us to a league cup final but that was practically by accident we won a few games and we got to the quarter final when for a change the opposition Bolton Wanderers fielded a weak side much to the disgust of their fans fagainst our full strength side and we won against the odds, Bolton were in the premier at the time, and made the final and what a great day that was.
Looks like this is going to be a no relegation no promotion mid table season so I will be very pissed off if we don't go for it in the FA cup. It may be if Nottingham Forest are still in a relegation fight at the time they will field a weak side against us.

Yes it was Blackburn and their manager at the time was Mike Keen I think who was under a lot of pressure. However, one fan gave him credit for getting them to so far in a major competition up against a European side.
