THE CCFC BOARD SAY THEY WANT A WELSHMAN TO LEAD THE ACCADEMY/ LOCAL
PLAYERS AND BUILD A WELSH CARDIFF CITY TEAM
Former Reading boss Mark Bowen is ready to lead a Welsh revolution at Cardiff City - should current Bluebirds boss Neil Harris be shown the door.
Londonder Harris' position at the Cardiff City Stadium is hanging by the thinnest of threads after just three Championship wins this season - and Bowen is primed to answer City's SOS, with ex-Manchester City and Wales star Craig Bellamy in as coaching support.
Bowen, now 56, led Reading from the relegation precipice to mid-table Championship safety last term - but resigned his position as Royals Director of Football after Chinese Club owner Dai Youngge appointed 43-year-old Serb Veljko Paunovic.
Bowen, who was tracked by Swansea as a potential replacement for Graham Potter last year, is now ready to use his coaching skill honed at Blackburn, Manchester City, Fulham, QPR, Stoke and Southampton.
Former Cardiff forward Bellamy would be tempted to depart Belgium club Anderlecht to join ex-Norwich defender Bowen, capped 41 times by Wales, in the Welsh capital - with current Bluebirds destroyer Sol Bamba making up the Bluebirds coaching team.
Bowen would power current Cardiff fledglings Joel Bagan, Mark Harris, and, as a matter of urgency, the most promising Bluebirds kids forward into the first-team frame - with a major concentration on the Welsh-born players.
MARK BOWEN:
He reflected, "I am from Neath and am now a Welsh grandad of two weeks. I am a proud Welshman and would love the opportunity to lead Wales' capital club back to the Premier League.
" I took Craig with us to Blackburn and Man City. He is going to be one of the great football minds of the future - and I know he'd love to make a big contribution at Cardiff.
" He has always loved the club - he has openly shown that in the past."
Mark Bowen has:
Worked in premier league for 17 years and well over 500 games there as a coach.
Only a short time working in the championship with first Birmingham and then last year Reading FC BUT got promotion with Birmingham and took Reading from 23rd when arrived to 14th !
