Former Reading boss Mark Bowen is ready to lead a Welsh revo

Fri Nov 27, 2020 2:02 pm

THE CCFC BOARD SAY THEY WANT A WELSHMAN TO LEAD THE ACCADEMY/ LOCAL
PLAYERS AND BUILD A WELSH CARDIFF CITY TEAM :bluebird: :bluebird:

Former Reading boss Mark Bowen is ready to lead a Welsh revolution at Cardiff City - should current Bluebirds boss Neil Harris be shown the door.

Londonder Harris' position at the Cardiff City Stadium is hanging by the thinnest of threads after just three Championship wins this season - and Bowen is primed to answer City's SOS, with ex-Manchester City and Wales star Craig Bellamy in as coaching support.

Bowen, now 56, led Reading from the relegation precipice to mid-table Championship safety last term - but resigned his position as Royals Director of Football after Chinese Club owner Dai Youngge appointed 43-year-old Serb Veljko Paunovic.

Bowen, who was tracked by Swansea as a potential replacement for Graham Potter last year, is now ready to use his coaching skill honed at Blackburn, Manchester City, Fulham, QPR, Stoke and Southampton.

Former Cardiff forward Bellamy would be tempted to depart Belgium club Anderlecht to join ex-Norwich defender Bowen, capped 41 times by Wales, in the Welsh capital - with current Bluebirds destroyer Sol Bamba making up the Bluebirds coaching team.

Bowen would power current Cardiff fledglings Joel Bagan, Mark Harris, and, as a matter of urgency, the most promising Bluebirds kids forward into the first-team frame - with a major concentration on the Welsh-born players.

MARK BOWEN:

He reflected, "I am from Neath and am now a Welsh grandad of two weeks. I am a proud Welshman and would love the opportunity to lead Wales' capital club back to the Premier League.

" I took Craig with us to Blackburn and Man City. He is going to be one of the great football minds of the future - and I know he'd love to make a big contribution at Cardiff.

" He has always loved the club - he has openly shown that in the past."

Mark Bowen has:

Worked in premier league for 17 years and well over 500 games there as a coach.

Only a short time working in the championship with first Birmingham and then last year Reading FC BUT got promotion with Birmingham and took Reading from 23rd when arrived to 14th !

Win percentage working in the championship is 45% !

Have to say if the hierarchy are planning this Welsh revolution, Bowen has experience and should be given a chance, they aint going to bring any big names in as they cant give a manager a budget.

We tried this whole "Welsh revival" thing with Trollope I thought.

Emyr Huws and Jazz Richards signed.

Declan John in the first team and Mark Harris in the match day squad.

This is AWFUL news if true. If this is what the board are thinking then let’s just keep Harris at least he did a good job last year and got milwall promoted Bowen has done nothing as a manager. We were promised all this under Trollope and look what happened. Bowen would be a massive step backwards. If they are so keen to appoint Welsh just get Bellamy. He might be great he might not but it would be better than what we have at the moment. If Bowen is the choice then I vote keep Harris

I was in school with mark bowen and his sister and brother he is a year younger than me I honestly think he would do a good job for us also if he brings in the right back room staff Bellamy being mentioned with sol bamber not sure about Bellamy but I will gave it the benefit of the doubt .I don’t go with an all welsh Cardiff team yes we want to bring in local talent but it’s near impossible to do that .it’s been said that he’s done nothing as a manger well first of all he’s been a number two to mark Hughes done a good job at reading not sure why he’s lost his job at reading I spoke to his brother a few seasons ago and said he should go on is own and un shackle himself from mark Hughes which he has know done I think if Neil Harris does go I think mark Bowen should be given a chance

I don't like anybody who puts, themselves about when there's no vacancy. He's a prick.
I hope Harris gets on a role.

i actually think he could do a decent job....but agree openly wanting another managers job while he is still in place is crap...
