Seems to be a popular title by a few on here given to some managers and not others.Surely all managers in all walks of life obey the company’s owners. Can someone enlighten me pleased.

Shhh you can't say things like that on here out loud. Anything that is not against Tan is forbidden. We have the only board and owner in the world who "Apparently" tell the manager who to sign and play. Former owners of this club would never dream of getting involved in playing matters.
In fairness though there are some managers who are proper yes men in this game and Harris is either one of them at the moment or just useless. Either way it will be Vincent tans fault.

its varying degrees mate... if your appointing an experienced manager who is pretty confident he could get work elsewhere your far more likely to have him tell you exactly what he thinks and what he wants... than someone like Harris or Slade who id imagine were both grateful and surprised they were being offered the job...

Very few managers are no men need to be a warnock Jose pep klopp ect otherwise managers do what owner asks like anyone will do for employer! If dont like he can leave like some have? Whats a yes man well names quoted on here were called yes men for slashing wage bill and getting rid players .. but is letting owner change colours without doing/saying anything also a yes man? He could have resigned on principle and fans would have loved him for it! .... personally think it's a stupid statement as all employees (managers) are yes men and have a choice except conditions of employment or resign it's that simple.

That's true in all walks of life, I told the owner of a company to feck off I'll do it my own way once, and it didn't end well

I left by mutual consent

I seem to remember that most signings under Sam Hamman were paraded as 'his own special signings'

There is a difference between doing your job description and being a yes man.
The argument that you do what your boss tells you to do is true, as long as it within the parameters of your job and the law.
If you are told to do something that you do not feel comfortable with and are not legally obligated to do it, then you have the right not to.
But if someone lied to their customers/consumers on their boss' orders and did whatever they said, regardless of the legal nature and beyond their job requirements, then I think it's fair to refer to them as a "yes man".
Obviously I'm not suggesting that Vincent Tan or anyone at the club during his time as owner have broken the law. That's just an example.
Some of the decisions that Harris blindly follows from the board, of which he has no obligation to do, make him a yes man in my view.
I am particularly talking about his public comments in the press.

In my younger days,I walked from a couple of jobs, for not doing "what your boss asked you to do,the company way!!
But I don't understand the yes man thing either,we are all yes men,at varying times in life, until you become your own boss, which is what I did, then I behave as the boss, wanting things done my way
