Lets try and get some positive posts on here aye!
What have been your 3 favourite away days following the City?
No particular order ;
Norwich away 2008 - First proper away day. Weekend away in Norwich, stayed in the hotel overlooking the pitch so we needn't have bothered with tickets! Went 1-0 down but I think Whittingham and Johnson scored to win 1-2.
Leeds away 2018 - What a game. 0-3 up at half time thanks to Paterson, Morrison and I think Hoilett, great atmosphere too. Spent the whole second half singing about Leeds falling apart AGAIN
Carling cup final 2012 v Liverpool - Ben Turners goal causing absolute limbs. So disappointed not to win that day but so proud

April 1976 Palace away, we took thousands up there as we both battled for promotion, city won 1-0, Alston scored, one of the best away followings we've had.
A few weeks later we went to Bury for a midweek game, last game of the season, where a win would seal promotion, thousands travelled, we won 1-0, Alston again, city fans celebrated on the pitch, what a night.
The Carling cup final 2012 against the scousers, although we lost, the fact that we pushed the premier league giants all the way is one of the proudest moments watching city, we came so close.

Yes I remember Swindon Easter 71!!! With my Ben Sherman cheque shirt and braces I went on one of four very long football specials-they used to have two engines pulling them- that left Cardiff that day. Thousands more went by car. Must have been around 10,000 of us there. Biggest away following I have seen for a City league game. If I remember Alan Warboys got both goals in a 2-2 draw as we were closing in on promotion to the old First Divison. Unfortunately fell apart in last few games. Best days for me of following the City.

i think the crowd at swindon was just over 20 000 and we def had more than half the that .as you say train after train.i remember some big followings to oxford as well.god that was a hell of a walk from station to headington
Thu Nov 26, 2020 10:39 pm
Over 21000 at Swindon that day, that season promised so much but we just fell short, a few weeks after the Swindon game we got hammered 5-1 up in Sheffield united, they went on to get promotion, over 42000 at that game and Cardiff lad Gil Reece scored for them..

Oxford was always one of my favourite trips. As you say a hell of a walk. Through the town and up that big hill.

Pompey March '83 0-0 lots of noise and the famous disappearing clock
vs QPR 2002. Earnie second half hat trick & a late Andy Campbell cameo
vs Liverpool Wembley 2012. Great atmosphere before during and even after the game (which was cracking)

QPR 2002 Earnie hat trick is also my best away day. I'd also add our 3 v 2 away win against Oxford 1999, Winston Faerber remember him? and my very first game 1989 a 1 v 0 win away against Aldershot. Wheeler cross, Alan Curtis finish and a City fan was hooked for life.

Leicester, and Southampton in the Premier league, and Liverpool in the carling Cup final.
Ben turners goal was probably the most celebrated ever by me. Thought I was having a clutcher!

For me 9th November 1988 away at Aarhus in the European Cup Winners Cup
Ok we lost 4-0 but it was my first European trip. The fun on the ferry going across, the build up, the cost of a Mars Bar!!! the result was not important. Was just a good few days away!

1977-78 Season: West Ham away with Cardiff, opened my eyes, frightening, unbelievable atmosphere, that day from the minute we set off, (I was youngest on the coach), outside the ground, during, after and on the way home, it was like out of a film.
2012 Liverpool 2 Cardiff City 2 (3-2 penalties Liverpool won) League Cup Final at Wembley.
In my school days everyone my year in a Cardiff school supported, Liverpool, Leeds & Man United and laughed at Cardiff City, i was the only Cardiff fan and i said then, one day we will be up there with you all and my dream came true and for me walking out of Wembley I felt so proud to be a City fan
My eldest Daughter said leaving Wembley, we never lost did we Daddy, we drew with Liverpool, i had tears in my eyes as we held the mighty Liverpool at Wembley
1994 Standard Liege v Cardiff City amazing trip from beginning to end , 1,200 City fans made the trip, (200 sent back before the game) atmosphere brilliant, fans drinking everywhere, many good friendships made.
