Think my choice would be Eddie Howe. Couple of reservations. Firstly he may not want to come to us with his record at Bournemouth he might be holding out for a premier league club. That said we have been in the premier twice recently and are not the rubbish club we once were not long ago. The second thing is he one of those managers who only succeeds at one club. He was brilliant for Bournemouth but just ok for Burnley. Obvious first choice I think.

My worry is that they replaced Warnock with a Poundland version and we may well end up with a Poundland version of Harris.
I expect there are a few League 2 managers sitting by their phones tonight just in case they get lucky.
What's Russell Slade doing at the moment?
God help us
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:12 pm
Nigel Pearson
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:15 pm
We'll probably end up with "toshack"
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:16 pm
I'd give Giggs a go, he's done well with Wales and is trying to play properly but he's never been liked down the city so wouldn't be a popular choice

The trend seems to be good manager, bad manager , good manager , bad manager
Hopefully that means the next appointment is a good one
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:20 pm
Pearson or Terry.
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:23 pm
No chance whatsoever Eddie Howe would come here
It will probably be a way cheaper option like Bamba or Paul Cook.
Bellamy would be an “interesting” appointment
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:24 pm
Sam ricketts has been sacked from shrewsbury town so look out
sammy ricketts barmy army
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:26 pm
Harry rednapp could be wheeled out.
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:26 pm
Of the realistic targets, I’d give Paul Cook a chance. I don’t rate Pearson as highly as some people...he had years of being bank rolled at Leicester before promotion and got sacked at Derby after a poor start.

Malky (good) Ole (bad) Slade (bad) Trollope (shite) Warnock (good) Harris (bad).
Two decent out of the last six managers doesn't exactly fill me with confidence as far as the next appointment is concerned.
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:34 pm
Nigel Pearson
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:37 pm
Some of the names being mentioned on here

Eddie Howe? Not a chance. He was on Sky the other night and said he's not desperate to return and he'll only go back into management if it's a project he really believes in. I doubt he means going to a club who have no intention of spending money, and have a failing academy.
Ryan Giggs? He's still Wales manager and isn't going to leave that job for a Championship club.
Many want it to be Bamba, but I don't. He has zero experience. We've been down a similar route before, when we brought in Ole and he was a disaster. Ole had limited experience, Bamba has no experience.
My choice would be Nigel Pearson but no way will he work under these conditions either.
It will be someone who won't cost much money and will accept having no money to spend.
Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:38 pm
Weve got f**k all money so I think everyone should accept its going to be an underwhelming appointment now and save the drama / dissapointment when he's announced. Wouldnt be surprised to see Cook come in.

•Bellamy my 1st choice, but issues with Tan cos of bullying situation
•Nigel Pearson, just cos of Craig Shakespeare, only till end if the season
•John Terry outside option due to Chelsea connections hope for a lampard & Gerrard type job
•Bamba till end of the season, more realistic
•Paul Cook till end of season only
•Michael flynn but think its to big a job for him

Has to be Nigel Pearson. He is a difficult character for owners which could be a problem for us as tan likes things his own way but he is a strong character and has done well at this level

He’ll o for me.

Pearson, or Bellamy with Bamba as assistant.
Both options are realistic but Bellamy and Bamba would be more risky. I just think the players need some passion and leadership and this two have that in spades.
Pearson has the proven track record at this level and above but is a prickly character.
Whoever gets this job has got to be better than what we’ve got at the moment !!

Options not mentioned:
Cowleys
Ryan Lowe
Wagner (a no from me)
Johnson or Monk (just to give you nightmares)

Yes "little" Lee did occur to me as the sort of appointment I could see being appealing to our board.

Problem with the Cowleys is they are even more route on than Warnock and Harris and that's saying something. Think Nigel Pearson in still quite ill with some sort of complications with the covid he had and is possibly not ready to move back to management just yet. He also has a huge reputation for falling out with people.

I think for our club you need a bit of an ego, so need relative success. A manager from a European minor league, but need to have been successful or someone like a Warnock. I have always wanted Pulis or Houghton but that ship has sailed. Pearson would shake this group up. I have seen no evidence of Tan getting involved nor choo or Dalman so i can'tsee what issues they'd have with him as they are never around.
I am not sure this is the right time for Bellamy and definitely not Sol.

They could go for Mark Hudson ,he would be cheap , ex City Captain , with coaching experience at Huddersfield , all I hope is that ex Bristol City manager does’nt get brought in ?

A few 'obvious' names thrown in there; few of which 'inspire' me other than one...
And let me point out there are
NO outstanding 'bullying' accusations against my personal choice, Craig Bellamy, so no 'issue' with him coming here on that front

I think you may well be right.

Craig Bellamy. No brainer.
Thu Nov 26, 2020 7:42 am
Even though I dont believe Bellamy is the right manager knowledge wise, he is almost certainly the right guy to get the fans excited and players playing for him
Bellamy would need a very good #2 if he was to get it
Maybe he would come over with Vincent Kompany ?

What's Chris Coleman doing these days?
