PS4 - TV 720p or 1080p

My son has a PS4 and wants to get a TV / monitor. He has seen one for £139 , 3 hdmi ports etc
But the TV is only 720p - I thought PS4 console games would look much better in 1080p rather than 720p
Anyone on here know if 720p will cut it ?

Mate I really wish I knew what the hell all those letters n numbers meant.

Don’t waste your money mate. 720p is not something you should be buying. Surprised they even sell that technology. As a minimum you need full HD, not HD ready which is what 720p is. The future is 4K and then 8k but still early days on that really.

Bin the 720 idea and go full HD if he has a standard PS4 or if you want to future proof everything pay an extra £100 and get a 4k TV if he has the PS4 PRO.

when buying a monitor just be wary that they normally don’t include speakers or if they do not particularly good ones.
not 100% sure what’s on the back of it (mines gone now I have a ps5

also if u want to use existing computer speakers or something with an AUX, make sure the monitor has an audio OUT port not just IN

Why a monitor ,just get a 1080 hd TV there are loads out there , black Friday is coming there will be loads of cheap offers

8K will never go mainstream attention will switch towards perfecting HDR and hdmi 2.1

He's just informed me - it's just to watch TV / netflix / youtube - he'll keep his existing PS4 with old monitor.
Im thinking though - as you say , 1080p TV with hdmi inputs and he can do both
