' MENDEZ-LAING MAKING A COMEBACK? '

Sun Nov 15, 2020 3:42 pm

Former bluebird Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has been seen training with Real madrid striker Karim Benzema's personal coach. Could a comeback be on the cards??

Who knows but I wouldn't mind if he ever came knocking on our door again.

If he has been cleared of charges (whatever they are) then we should definitely have him... we are missing him big time imo nobody turns pace like he did.

Free agent Nathaniel Mendez-Laing appears to be eyeing up a return to football - two months on form his shock exit from Cardiff City.

He's currently out in Dubai and still on holiday.

Monday 16th November 2020

The winger left the Bluebirds back in September due to what the club described at the time as a "serious breach of contract", and remains without a club.

He's currently out in Dubai, and recently broke his social media silence by posting pictures of himself with his son Tao, but it appears his trip isn't just a holiday.

The 28-year old has also been busy in the gym, and is being put through his paces by highly-acclaimed personal trainer Nic St-Maurice, who counts Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger, Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Man City full-back Benjamin Mendy among his other clients.

St-Maurice's intense training programs claim to add more 'explosiveness' to a player's game, and are seemingly often used as part of pre-season schedules.

Speaking about his methods on his website, he explains: "This is the exact pre season training program that I make my top football players do when they want to get ready to go back to their team in the best shape of their life. This program not only gets them quicker, stronger, more explosive but also gets them more fit and flexible to get them performing at their best when it matters!"

Whilst i agree with you, we do miss his explosive pace.

Coming back to an employer who sacked you, hardly on his agenda i guess.

If NML is on Police bail then I find it odd he was allowed to holiday abroad recently. Not convinced he has been charged with anything TBH

It’s a possibility there there are / will be no charges.

You can leave the country on bail ,i went to Thailand when on bail in 2010 for Chelsea and went to jail 4 weeks after I came back ,not all bail conditions are the same

Everything is possible. For now I am basing my opinion on the club statement that there was a 'serious breach of contract' which is generally a civil matter not a criminal one.

I accept that committing a crime could also be interrupted as a breach of contract (bringing the club into disrupt) but generally when someone is sacked for a criminal act the actual sacking wouldn't happen until after the person was convicted in a Court and even then it would be described as 'gross misconduct'

What about if he refused to train / play? Just a thought.

NML had a playing contract with CCFC if he refused to play/train then I can't see why that wouldn't be a breach of contract.

That said I can't remember a player being sacked for refusing to train or play but I suppose it must have happened at sometime maybe Joey Barton or someone like that?

Did not NML voice his concerns on the restart back in June.
Concerns around Covid being high risk for BAME.

He did,it does make you wonder :? But it's been mentioned in the press that not even the players knew of the reason for his dismissal, and there was a gagging order in place,on those who have knowledge of the reason for his sacking.
The club stated a serious breach of his contract, which is a nothing statement in truth,as there are a multitude of reasons he could be dismissed for, under that banner.

But would the club risk being dragged through the mud, sacking him for refusing to play/train,due to being from the bame community? ? If that is the reason, and he decides to take legal council, to fight the dismissal, it could open a huge can of worms,if he were to win a case of unfair dismissal, leaving the door open for anyone from the bame community, to down tools, fuse to play/train,knowing their club can do little about it?? Would the club risk the possible fallout? The football clubs are doing as best as possible to minimise the risk of players catching/spreading the viru, I can't see how they could do any more?
With that in mind,he has decided it's "safer" to get on a plane, with total strangers (albeit with a mask on ) than to be in an environment, that has stringent practices in place,ie the club he played for.I'm trying not to be too critical,as that's his choice, but seems an odd one to make,if your fear level is at such a level that you feel you cannot"work" due to the risks.
And after watching a medical programme earlier on the bbc (not the best place to be,I know  ) where the top people dealing with covid, openly stated that even sitting 2 metres apart, whilst wearing a mask, the time spent in the close proximity to others, should be no more than 15 minutes!!! So what flight lasts for that period? This coming from proffessional people, specialist in viral diseases. No offence, but if I was that concerned, I would not spend 5 1/2 hours,on a tube with total strangers, that's for sure. This is an odd one indeed, guess we will know in time.lastly,if he felt unsafe to train with his team mates,it's hardly a good advert for himself,to be seen flying, and then training whilst there? :old: :bluebird:

Could also be possible that the club caught him doing something and didn't report him to the police. Unless I've missed somewhere that he has been arrested?

unlikely mate.... Harris said the PFA had been informed and were part of it all the way through ..harris words . so i cant imagine the PFA being in on perverting the cause of justice.
