Matthew Connolly – Unattached
After a year plagued by a horrible ankle injury, which needed comprehensive surgery, Matthew Connolly and Cardiff City parted ways following an eight-year relationship.
Connolly had been present for both Premier League campaigns, although played only three top-flight matches, and played a key part in winning the Championship title in his first season back in 2012/13.
The centre back, now 33, was a great servant to the club and liked by everyone in and around the training ground, however his place in the squad was simply untenable.
He is yet to find a new team and is still a free agent.

Injury prone just like Jazz Richards unfortunately clubs are not going to take chances on these players in future.
Players ruling the roost have gone and they have to realise it’s back to the real world for them. Many would have planned for the day others not.
They will join us in the reality of things and will have to get on with it just like us!

Connolly did well in his first year I feel. Kept a few clean sheets and scored a couple of goals as well.
Pushed down the pecking order in the Prem behind Caulker and Turner and then slowly played less and less which was a shame.
Probably was for the best when he moved on.
