Danny Ward – Huddersfield Town It was a 'will-he-won't-he'

Danny Ward – Huddersfield Town

It was a 'will-he-won't-he' saga which rumbled on at the back end of last season, but it was ultimately decided that Cardiff and Danny Ward would part ways this summer.

Many felt he could still do a job, but there were many factors at play and with Harris hellbent on bringing in Kieffer Moore, game time was always going to be hard to come by.

Ward was snapped up by one of his former clubs, Huddersfield, on a free transfer but has had a torrid time with injuries since his move.

He played 79 minutes of the Terriers' Carabao Cup defeat by Rochdale back in September before missing the next 10 Championship outings with a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old returned with an eight-minute cameo off the bench against Luton last weekend, but it's been a less-than-ideal start to life back at Huddersfield thus far, it must be said.

The prospect of a fit Danny Ward next to Moore would be interesting. But fitness issues always a problem :(
Can't fault him though, was big part of the squad for a long time.

I liked the lad and a fit Ward able to play long term would have been a great back up or support to Moore.

ive thought a few times this season that he is exactly what we have needed in the last 15/20 minutes..
turns out he was injured again anyway.... far too many injuries...

When fit , he always gave 100% and I remember him giving the Arsenal defence a few problems couple of seasons ago.
Did a decent job when he came on fir 15-20mi s but was never gonna be kept once Harris wanted Moore.

Probably the best finisher at CCFC but his injury woes continue at Huddersfield.

I think Danny Ward would have us 4 points better off this season. He was a clinical finisher which is exactly what we needed in the last 20mins v Bristol and his pace would’ve been a nightmare for Middlesbrough’s defence towards the tail end of the game.
We saw time and time again last season how deadly he was off the bench and unfortunately I don’t think we’ve got that kind of super sub any more.

I understand why he had to go and his injuries would’ve had him sit out both the games I mentioned above so it’s all semantics at the end of the day, just hoping someone can step up to fill in his role now.
