Aden Flint – Sheffield Wednesday (loan)

Aden Flint, like Callum Paterson, said he was looking forward to playing with "a smile on his face again" after sealing a loan move to the Hillsborough club, having fallen behind Sean Morrison and Curtis Nelson in pecking order at Cardiff City Stadium.

And it's fair to say he started brilliantly for the Owls, playing a vital part in the shutout against Birmingham City, despite arriving just the day before, and played well in the subsequent two matches, despite falling to defeat against Brentford and Luton.

Our sister title ExaminerLive wrote that Garry Monk had "unearthed a new leader " and was a "shining light" for Wednesday.

"Flint was a tower of strength at the back and helped the Owls snuff out the threat of Scott Hogan," they wrote of his debut. "As first outings go, it could not have gone much better."

Unfortunately, Flint departed the Rotherham game after just 17 minutes due to a hamstring injury and has had to undergo surgery. He is due to be absent for a considerable length of time.

Monk, too, has left Wednesday, meaning a new manager is set to take the reins in the coming days and how that impacts both Paterson and Flint will be an interesting narrative to follow, given how Harris' arrival affected both players' time at Cardiff City in the last year.
