Gareth Bale of Tottenham Hotspur receives treatment in the stands, a picture that will worry Spurs and Wales fans.

Gareth Bale has joined up with the rest of his Wales team-mates, despite concerns over an ankle injury picked up during Tottenham's 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

Sunday's game was Bale's first Premier League start since he rejoined Spurs on loan from Real Madrid in September.

The 31-year old lasted 78 minutes before being replaced by Lucas Moura, and was then seen receiving treatement on his right ankle, which appeared to be covered in an ice pack.

The images will have sparked concern among fans, ahead of what is a crucial triple-header of international games.

Bale is understood to have joined the camp as normal on Sunday night, suggesting there is a confidence he will be able to play some part for the Red Dragons - and there is currently no indication he will withdraw.

Nevertheless, the question over his match fitness will likely be a pressing concern.

Wales have already been hit by an injury to Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who recently pulled out with a thigh strain, while Swansea City boss Steve Cooper confirmed at the weekend that centre-back Ben Cabango has also withdrawn.

It's understood that the latter is unlikely to be replaced, due to the number of alternatives available to temporary boss Rob Page, who has taken interim charge following Ryan Giggs' arrest.

Page could well decide to rest Bale for the friendly clash with the USA at the Liberty Stadium on Thursday, November 12, with Wales kicking off a crucial UEFA Nations League double-header against the Republic of Ireland at the Cardiff City Stadium three days later, before facing Finland in the capital on November 18.

Why on Earth would Page even think about using Gareth Bale for a 'friendly' match in current circumstances?

He's still getting to grips with Premier League football and has so far been used wisely by Jose Mourinho at Tottenham, so the 'kid glove' approach simply has to be the one that will get the best out of him when it really matters

How many injuries is it now in the last 3 years

I doubt it's an injury, just a bit of scare-mongering.

His last injury kept him out for a while and he's just played a large proportion of match during two games in four days - so only natural for him to have an ice pack on it.

The person that wrote this article has clearly never had a muscle injury or they would understand.

Agree with the above, it would be irresponsible for him to play in the friendly given how Spurs have wisely been phasing him back into playing first team matches. Would expect him to be able to play around about an hour in the competitive games during this international window.
