2020-2021 season with no fans

Sun Nov 08, 2020 8:15 am

I'm starting to think there will be no fans at any of the games at the CCS this season and I wouldn't be surprised if we miss the start of next season as well.

Even if they find a vaccine I can not see mass gatherings being allowed for a long time.

Question is how many football clubs, rugby clubs and even cricket clubs will go to the wall?

If the vaccine works, I think fans with the proof they've had the vaccine will be allowed into places like football grounds?

Possible vaccination passports or ID cards in the future?

Best estimates for most people to be vaccinated is end of 2021 but thats subject to a lot of IFs... so clubs cannot wait for a scenario that may not happen that's for sure

That would be too long, maybe they could start to get spaced out lower capacity crowds into outdoor sports grounds like football in the New Year? They may have to limit the number of people going down the stairs and into the food/bar areas but I think it could be done, and anything outdoors carries a much lower risk.

Indoor darts and snooker type events would be dodgy, I can't see anything like that happening anytime soon.

As for vaccine dates who knows, I get the feeling they really want it done as quickly as possible, and I think over 50's that want it will be done by June?

Healthy people under 50 wouldn't really need them, because if all the weak and old are done then they can't spread it to them if they get it?

I know doctors and pharmacists that say the government are trying to get them started before the end of this year.

I can guarantee you there will be no fans in the UK for a few years. Other parts of the world may have a better chance but here in the UK no due to people gathering at pubs and other big venues when the virus is still around.

40 million doses have already been purchased, they say it will start to be delivered in December. We will obviously try and buy more and we have bought millions more of the other vaccines that are just behind the first pfizer and in final testing using a very similar strategy.

Next season is August 2021 to May 2022, we will have fans in the ground that season, maybe not all by day one, but that season.

GUARANTEE, Sam...???? :o  :?

that's a wild statement to make; particularly as some stadiums are earmarked to have 'limited' supporter numbers in the not too distant future

Professional football (an other stadium sports) will slowly reintroduce supporters over the next few months; and it is my opinion (not a guarantee) that season ticket holders (at worst) will be back in the stadium before the end of the season

This is just nonsense. It seems subject to a few more tests at least one effective vacine has been made and millions of people can be vaccinated by spring of next year. Difficult to predict but I would say crowds will be back by Febuary or March of next year maybe not full houses but in substantial numbers. Next season I doubt if there will be any restrictions on crowds at all anywhere.
