Not having a go at Marlon, one of his best games, but surely if he does plays so deep in a 4231 then the fullbacks need to be ahead of at least Ralls and outside the two wide forwards who need to be closer to Moore or drop to receive the ball ?
Its a straight back 4 with Pack coming to get the ball to play with 5 players ahead of him against 11 opposition, so it goes backwards and sideways and even with movement is a battering to nothing. We do shit against team that don't always press.
Every formation is defensive. our 433 expects the wide forwards to be full backs and the 442 plays our best player on the right wing covering the full back.
I have seen a season of Harris and my only takeaway he is a very defensive manager. Keep it tight and hope to nick one by a bit of magic or set play (as if they as shit nowadays).
Bristol played his ultimate game last night.

Bristol played same way as nearly all teams coming to ccs.... primarily because they know harris is defensively minded and the formation he uses makes it comfortable for teams to defend also they know that city have weaknesses in defending as we have seen all season at home.... barnsley game shows what can be done if change tactics do last night he could have started with glatzel and Moore and if nessasary sub him later
because if we scored that would change Bristol tactics, as it was they got 1st goal and that suited them perfectly... Harris's problem is he's predictable so must rely on players like Wilson Tomlin producing bit class to unlock defences but playing Wilson like you say thats not going to happen .... we are not far off being a winning side but time is running out for Harris to turn hard luck stories into wins before tan makes his move.

Packs deep starting position is bad enough when we are in possession. It's made worse by his truly bizarre habit of playing a 20/30 yard sideways or even backwards pass and then running 15 yards straight after it in the direction he's played it.

The reason Pack plays so deep is because neither of our present centre half’s ( stoppers) have got a pass in either of them.
Surprising then that a premiership centre half with a reputation of being a good passer of the ball with good all round attributes can’t even get on the bench.

its because there is nothing on further forward.. and to make a return pass easier while changing his passing position in the hope next time he looks to release the options are better... Whitts { who i think was a better passer } took quite a bit of criticism for doing much the same...
