MY VIEW: CITY REVERT TO TYPE AS THEY GET MUGGED BY ROBINS

Fri Nov 06, 2020 8:20 pm

Despite my pre-match confidence, this was a majorly disappointing result and one that sees the Bluebirds revert to type with no real threat up front

I know we are always disappointed by a defeat (some more vocally than others) but it summed it up tonight when someone I was watching the game with (not a City supporter) remarked "Bristol are lucky Cardiff don't have a strike force...!"

On thinking, I could see his point. This was game in which the Bluebirds showed endeavour but no real cutting edge and which was effectively over in true fashion of late after conceding a wholly unnecessary goal to the Robins' Chris Martin after just 90 seconds

In true style, it seemed to set the tone for the rest of the game, where the Bluebirds huffed and puffed but ultimately failed to blow the rickety Bristol house down and we struggled to deliver too many decent passes and although a chance or two did materialise right at the end, it was too much too late for the Bluebirds as those chances that were created were wasted

I'm not sure what happens next. The rest of the Championship have a free shot at inflicting more damage on us over the weekend, as they play their 'game in hand' and we can only watch the gap widen

Again, Neil Harris will inevitably be the topic of discussion this evening and over the weekend but is that right at this time of the season? I'll be honest and say I'm not sure and I'm glad that decision lies elsewhere (and I don't mean with thomasblue)

The School Report will state "must do better" and the parents (Board) need to have a quiet word with their wards to explain the position in a way they understand

The Bluebirds are looking toothless up front and the reversion back to 4-4-1-1 tonight ultimately didn't work...again

Maybe we've been sussed out? Maybe the squad is tired? Either way, each club is in the same position and some a lot worse

Rallying call time: C'mon City; we know your better than this...! :ayatollah:

Same old story. Go behind and then struggle to break teams down. Didnt deserve to lose, Bristol offered nothing. But didn't deserve to win either. Need to get benkovic in after the break to shake up the defence.

Feel Harris may be on borrowed time now.

MY VIEW

Got caught again with our trousers down. Chasing a game they had what we don’t have.

A POACHER in the BOX

Cone on that wasn't a poachers goal he stood there waiting for ball to come to him and our defence obliged and let him have ball and then let him shoot both things being unchallenged...

yes borrowed time..and its of his own doing...
personally i thought tonights performance was decent despite the result... sort of result and performance you get away with if youve picked up 6/7 more points already...

Yea I didn't think we played that bad either, not as bad as people are saying on here anyway. Apart from their goal, our defence was pretty solid. Morrison (again) needed to show more awareness/desire to cut that cross out.
Struggled to break them down and then wasted opportunities around their box. Club have a big decision to make. Make the change now before the season is completely over or give him 2-3 more games.

Why is Pack taking on dead ball duties when Wilson is stood next to him? Squads apparent leaders should be leading but Morrison apart that doesn't seem to happen.
Do we have any points this season after going behind? Couple of performances against very poor sides in Barnsley and Forest but little else to encourage really. We have very little resilience and precious little creativity to make up for it.

All draws and I would have expected two wins at least from those...

It's not that we played badly; we just don'y have that final 5% and that final ball that makes the difference in the division right now :(

im not defending them , just answering...
i thought we were decent tonight... and had we previously got the points we should against some very poor teams the defeat would probably be looked at more kindly... but as it is he has painted himself into a corner.. its win or meltdown...
