Does anyone know what the situation is re this.
If a truck is parked near a crossing, the wheels are outside the zig zag lines but there is a large over hang of about 6foot - so 6ft of the vehicle is over the white zig zag lines.
Is the truck illegally parked - according to someone it is - as it counts where tyhe vehicle ends rather than where the wheels are parked.
anyone know the law on this ?

Sort of answered your own question...
ANY PART of the vehicle over the line is in contravention, as written
Six foot is not a minor transgression, so seems fair enough to me. Crossings should be able to be used safely; particularly when children might be present
