Ryan Giggs & the FAW have agreed that he won't take charge of the team next week.
Rob Page, with Ryan’s support, will take charge for the next three matches supported by Albert Stuivenberg.

Updated:

Manager Ryan Giggs will not be involved in Wales' three matches in November, with assistant Robert Page taking charge of the team.

Giggs has denied an allegation of assault made against him.

The 46-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend, several newspapers have reported.

"The Football Association of Wales and Ryan Giggs have mutually agreed that he will not be involved in the upcoming international camp," the FAW said.

Wales will now announce their squad for games with the USA, the Republic of Ireland and Finland, on Thursday.

"Our agreed immediate priority is preparing the team for the upcoming international matches," the governing body's statement added.

"Robert Page, with Ryan's support, will take charge for the next three matches against the USA, Republic of Ireland and Finland, supported by Albert Stuivenberg.

"The FAW will not be making any further comment at this current time."

Wales have a friendly against the USA at Swansea's Liberty Stadium on 12 November.

They then host the Republic of Ireland at the Cardiff City Stadium on 15 November in the first of two Nations League games, with Finland visiting the Welsh capital on 18 November.

Giggs' representatives said he denies all allegations of assault made against him and is co-operating with the police.

The FAW cancelled a news conference planned for Tuesday, where Giggs was due to announce his squad for upcoming international games.

Ryan Giggs could stand down from Wales' three matches this month after assault allegations

Wales have three games this month, against the USA, Ireland and Finland

By Paul Abbandonato

Ryan Giggs could stand aside from Wales' three matches this month following claims he assaulted his girlfriend.

Giggs may be given what is being termed 'special leave' for the looming fixtures with the USA, Ireland and Finland.

If so, he is likely to be temporarily replaced at the Wales helm by his Dutch number two Albert Stuivenberg. Former Wales defender Robert Page, another member of Giggs' backroom team, is also on hand to help out.

The FA of Wales held urgent top level talks on Tuesday morning after what had been claimed about their manager overnight, so they could decide upon a suitable course of action.

Giggs was due to meet the media to name his squad for the autumn matches against USA, Ireland and Finland, but that press conference was cancelled.

We understand a full review about the Giggs situation will be conducted by the FAW in due course.

Man Utd legend Ryan Giggs’ future as Wales boss in doubt following arrest on suspicion of ‘assaulting girlfriend’

RYAN GIGGS’ future as Wales boss was tonight thrown into doubt after his arrest.

The Manchester United legend, 46, was yesterday questioned and then bailed, pending inquiries by police, on suspicion of actual bodily harm and assault following an alleged bust-up with his girlfriend.

The shock news came as Wales last night cancelled Giggs’ squad announcement for a trio of November games which was due to be via Zoom on Tuesday morning.

Welsh FA chiefs were locked in talks on Monday night over how to deal with Giggs’ alleged conduct.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance.

“A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment.

“A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”

The Welsh FA added: “The squad announcement scheduled for tomorrow will no longer take place and has been postponed.”

Giggs emerged from Pendleton police station on Monday afternoon after hours of questioning.

And now the Wales boss will have to answer to chief executive Jonathan Ford over the alleged incident.

It is not clear at this stage if Giggs will continue in his duties as boss for the friendly with USA in Swansea on November 12.

After that, there's the Nations League double-header against the Republic of Ireland and Finland in Cardiff later this month.

Giggs, who won 13 Premier League titles and the Champions League twice in a glittering playing career, became Wales manager in January 2018 after signing a four-year contract.

He guided his country to their second successive European Championship finals with qualification last November, following a 2-0 win over Hungary.

"Could stand down"? :?

Sounds like more journalistic licence from Abbandanato there...!

Not a fan of Giggs for many a reason and his morals (or lack of) have been exposed before, although I would point out that brother Rhodri did eventually make some money out of it, including making a TV advert that referenced the one incident, but let's see what happens before questioning his tenure as manager of the Wales team, eh?

Currently, it's an allegation, so don't jump the proverbial gun before the facts are known

Well, it seems confirmed that Giggs has now stood down from the next Wales training camp and the next three international games

Changes the whole dynamic of the conversation now... :ayatollah:

I’m complete at a loss for words over this. He’s always come over as a great role model and easily the most passionate person to play for Wales.
He’s always been there for us so we should all get behind him now in his hour of need.

I am not questioning the appointment of page as stand in manager just wondering about long term future of Giggs hope he stays as manager of the national team mate
Obviously could depend on outcome of charges against him ;)
