He's off again....

You let us know which 'street' you will be on, redjohn, and we'll see if we can muster a couple of fellow 'reds' to join you! :thumbright:

Worthy of note, there are a pair of 'red' telephone boxes at the bottom of Churchill Way, in which you could fit all your 'comrades' and make the place look crowded for the cameras... ;)

Get it in your small mind that Boris doesn't want to 'lockdown' (it's proven to be his least favourite option) but something needs to occur, as to date enough of the UK population has been ignorant (or maybe sinister) enough to force his hand. Go speak to Cardiff University (supposed educator of future leaders and business gurus) as a massive example!

Look at the figures; they may not be 100% accurate but they certainly tell a story and (from personal experience in my workplace this week) I can tell you that Covid is starting to hit places/people it didn't in the previous (Spring) period

Meanwhile, back at the football, City are not too far from a proper 'kick off' :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird: :D

If he locks down but keeps universities and airports open then this will go on into next winter aswell

It doesnt take a genius to work out that foreign travel caused this throughout Europe

Indeed and this is the type of area where proper decisions need to be made

It's one area where Trump got that (the suspension of many foreign/European flights) right; even though it's affected me and others I know personally! :ayatollah:

Read last night that the strain here, has come from spain in general? Leaving people travel freely in and out of country, most definitely did not help,in fact in all likelihood, made it far worse than need be!! Huge clanger dropped there!!!

After calling the Welsh Labour Government "Hard left, Marxists" etc etc for putting Wales into a two week lockdown will the establishment media and Tory fan boys giving the same treatment to the Tories for putting England into a (at least) four week lockdown?

Covid: Furlough backlash amid Welsh firebreak snub claims

The way Wales has been treated over cash for jobs during its firebreak compared to England is "not fair at all", says its first minister.

Mark Drakeford said requests to boost wage subsidies when a national lockdown was introduced in Wales were repeatedly turned down by the UK Treasury.

In October, the UK government paid up to 60% of furlough pay - including in the first week of the Wales firebreak.

It will now rise back to 80% across the UK as England's lockdown begins.

"When things change in England they change their minds about the furlough plan. And that's not fair," said Mr Drakeford.

While welcoming the extension of furlough, he added: "When we were asking it was impossible to do it. Now when they have made new decisions in England it is possible."

He said written requests to Chancellor Rishi Sunak prior to the all-Wales lockdown for additional job support measures were rebuffed.

It included a request to bring forward the planned replacement for furlough in Wales - the new Job Support Scheme - to cover the Wales firebreak.

"I got an answer quickly to say that was not possible for a number of technical reasons and so no," Mr Drakeford told BBC Radio Cymru.

England faces a new lockdown from Thursday for a month.

Eligible people in Wales will also benefit form the furlough extension - as well as from a decision to extend mortgage payment holidays.

The Treasury said Wales was not being treated differently to England.

A spokesman added: "It is now clear that much broader restrictions are needed right across the country to contain the virus, so we have extended our financial support across the UK to help millions of people continue to provide for their families."

Boris didn't want one, he still doesn't, it will wreck the economy, but if he did the NHS wouldn't be able to cope and the deaths would go through the roof!!

I'm not sure Johnson knows what he wants anymore. The government is in a mess, its changing its narrative almost daily which destabilises business and hurts the economy. A blind man good see we were going to need another lockdown weeks ago so the ideal time was the half term hols but once again the government hesitated and stuttered. Even the announcement was chaotic with Journalists knowing before elected ministers because of insider leaks.

Johnsons failure to sack Cummings after the Barnaby castle episode is still hurting the heart of government and eroding confidence in decision making. It's like a carry on film but without the humour.

Genuine question for some on here, in nearly 11 years of a Tory government what opportunities have the poor been given? How has a conservative rule benefited the country?

Thing is mate you will never have it perfect who ever is in power ,ask the people from the valleys what labour has done to bring them out of poverty over the last 40years,and the state of the finances last time they left power ,there is no magic wand,if we are being honest it's a constant juggling act , society needs to do it's part as well like ,if you can't feed or support yourself or got nowhere to live it's not the right time to have kids is it ,or there born into poverty ,lot of factors not just dishing money out .

I think you'll find an awful lot of money has been dished out by this government, a lot justified, a lot suspect, but money can be found and it has been found.
