FULL JOE BENNETT INTERVIEW:

Pleased to be starting games again - must hate missing them?

JOE BENNETT:

"It’s been a bit frustrating the past two or three weeks because I’ve not missed many. I had that first hamstring injury against Forest and I recovered from that, went back into training, felt fine and then started the Blackburn game and knew within five minutes it wasn’t quite right.

"I started training again and felt my quad tighten up in training and was hoping to play Boro but it was a bit too soon."

Anything to do with ridiculous schedule?

JOE BENNETT:

"I think so.

"There are a few factors that play into that. The small break that we had, the amount of games I played last season, that’s unheard of, 50 games in a season, and it just caught up with me.

"I was so happy to get through that game (Derby) and I’m sure I’ll get my fitness back."

New Year’s Day game at QPR, changed the season, honest words?

JOE BENNETT:

"I actually didn’t play that game! I remember watching it on TV though and it’s not nice to lose by that amount of goals. Different team, different shape, but it will be nice to remember that and get one back over them on the weekend."

You, Wilson, Osei-Tutu injuries, can’t pick the team he wants to?

JOE BENNETT:

"Difficult at times! Harry has been an unbelievable addition to the squad, he could easily be playing in the Premier League.

"To get him into the club is a real asset.

"Him and Kieffer linking up, then you got Tommo coming back from injury, he has still got a massive part to play.

"If we can get them two fit, we will be flying."

Got enough to get back in the Prem?

JOE BENNETT:

"We have got one of the strongest squads in the league. Sheyi has been a really good addition as well.

"Benko has come in and looked really good in training, a solid defender competing with Nels and Moz.

"We have got options in every position, I think Joel did really well the last couple of games while I was out. He is only young but I’m sure he’ll get more opportunities."

Good for you having Joel Bagan about?

JOE BENNETT:

"I think you relish it. It’s good to have competition in every position. We are lucky to have three good left backs, you don’t often get that many decent players in that one position.

"Greg is injured at the minute but Joel has done really well."

Searching for a bit of rhythm, why?

JOE BENNETT:

"I’m not sure really. We are still yet to click. I don’t think we played that well at Derby, we could have played better.

"We kept the ball relatively well compared to the previous manager, we have changed a bit from that.

"Man marking, longer balls, we can do that at times because we have got Kieffer up there, but it’s a little bit of a transition period, I know that is a cliche, where we are trying to play a different style of football.

"I know that takes time but we have new players in the squad and you can’t win every game. It’s so difficult in the Championship to pick up points, but we will be looking to do that at QPR and get the points on the board."

Warnock said style of play hadn’t changed?

JOE BENNETT:

"Against Middlesbrough… with us, when we got promoted, we played like that. The other team played and came like that as well.

"It turned into a battle. It turned into a scrappy team and that’s how they want to play, it’s difficult to get the ball around.

"There have been games where we have had a lot more possession than we’ve previously had. We have got to just keep working on it in training, it’s not going to happen overnight and hopefully it’ll click soon and we can start moving up the table."
