Vince Alm: Dear Mr Drakeford Try telling the kids Hallowee

Fri Oct 23, 2020 5:36 pm

Vince Alm:

Dear Mr Drakeford

Try telling the kids Halloween costumes and fireworks are non essential purchases on the 23rd October to the 9th November!

5 events in the kids calender Their Birthday, Easter, Halloween, Bonfire night, and Christmas.

The other 360 days are just a build up to each event.

Can you please reconsider for the sanity of parents, grandparents, Foster parents, careers etc so they can at least have a go in their gardens to enjoy Halloween and bonfire night.

Drakeford will cancel Christmas and stop people celebrating their birthdays before he'll reconsider Halloween and Bonfire Night I'm afraid.

I'm not being funny, there's a lot of reasons to slag WAG off for at the moment but this isn't one of them.

Halloween and firework products have been on sale for the last few months right up until this morning and we were given plenty of notice of the lockdown so if Vince hasn't bought a pumpkin or some fireworks in time then its his own fault on this occasion.

Totally agree, Drakeford and his cronies deserve lots of criticism for some of their ridiculous rules and decisions

However, this is not one of them. People have had all week to get their Halloween items sorted.

There are ways to celebrate Halloween without having to go out , it will probably be pissing down anyway .

Just be inventive and decorate the house and have quality family time leaving sweets hidden for the kids to find . Simple

Bonfire night is a total waste of money, not really sure why we celebrate a terrorist anyway.
Religious nutters trying to kill the king and his parliament because they were not catholic

You can easily have bonfire night and fireworks inside your house, just ask Mario Balotelli. He blew his living room up and thought it was brilliant!Unlike us though,he just went out and bought a new house the next day!!

You must be under 50. Bonfire night was the best day of the year when i was a kid. No organised displays, we did it all ourselves and it didn't cost much. We would collect "bonner for months" and protect our bonfire from other gangs who would launch raids!

Used to have some great bonfires as kids.. all done ourselves and as you say, guarded against the ransack.. was the best day of the year. Think the idea is Thomas it celebrates the failure.. could do with one on the Senedd now

I somewhat sympathise with Vince but there is a far bigger picture here and allowing 'exceptions' to the current (poorly named) Fire Break will only encourage (not that some won't anyway) people to gather in large numbers to undo the work (rightly or wrongly) WAG, not solely Drakeford, are trying to do

I am in no way a WAG supporter (twice voted 'NO' and would do so again) but fair's fair; instead of looking at the negative, let's get on with it and use the downtime to help keep the Covid figures as low as possible and (just maybe) teach our younger citizens that life isn't a bed of roses and occasionally they just might have to forfeit and/or go without for the greater good

Novel idea, eh? ;) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

So scaring animals to death with fireworks, lighting some sparklers and knocking peoples doors for sweets are more important than the nations health?

I agree Christmas is a different matter but these two "events" are hardly important in reality.

But is it important enough to risk everyone's health by having large crowds huddled together this year with all thats going on ?
