Attack finally beginning to click
By Glen Williams
Thursday 22nd October 2020
Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of the Bluebirds' draw with Bournemouth was the attack beginning to click into gear.
City started the game brightly, with Harry Wilson, Sheyi Ojo and Robert Glatzel linking up nicely to carve out a number of early opportunities.
That was the case, too, after the break, when the game began to break up and Cardiff's quick and creative players were afforded the room to work their magic.
Someone on Twitter put it to me that the biggest compliment they could pay that front four on Wednesday night was that Lee Tomlin's absence was not felt.
While Tomlin will always bolster any forward line, and would still be a shoo-in if he was fully fit, it must be so pleasing for Neil Harris and the Bluebirds faithful that in the playmaker's absence, there is still quality there to create chances now.
There would be collective groans previously if Tomlin had been ruled out through injury, but with Wilson now able to fill that No.10 role, there is finally strength in depth in a crucial area of the pitch and it could prove telling as the season wears on.
Just a week ago, all hopes were pinned on Tomlin to be that creative pivot for another mammoth Championship season, but now, finally, there are threats from all across that forward line.
"We are seeing the best of players now," Harris said after the game.
"Harry was on top form, Sheyi with the confidence.
"Sheyi needs to work on that end product, on the right-hand side and left-hand side, but we are seeing good link-up.
"Sheyi has got good pace, he is quicker than he looks as well - we saw that with the counter-attack on the weekend.
"A lot of positives in the game."

I agree with that especially the points made about Ojo.
After the first couple of games I thought we'd been loaned a no-hoper but I was wrong on that score.
What I wasn't expecting was his workrate and ability to turnover possession deep in the opposition half. I know he's there as an attacker but the way Harris has set out to play a major part of our game is to regain possession deep in opposition territory. He did is a lot on Saturday and was just as effective last night.
If he can add a good final ball to his locker then we may have an unexpected player on our hands !!

There are folks who wouldnt agree with him but with wilson in team we did not miss Tomlin and with better final ball we could have scored couple more goals besides Wilsons!
We will improve as season progresses I'm sure of that.

Have to agree, but it's a nice dilemma to have when tomlin is fit

thought Glatzel also had a good game, linking play as said in report.but the main issue is still that final ball (or not! ) into the box, sort that and we will be ok.
