Take a bow Alex Smithies

Thu Oct 22, 2020 7:29 am

What a performance yet again last night. Been blessed to see some fabulous keepers over the years playing for the City including Ron Healey, George Wood, Gavin Ward, Andy Dibble, Tom Heaton, David Marshall, Tom Heaton, Lee Smelt (cough). He was patient and waited for his time but he is one of the best we've ever had. :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

I agree mate. Excellent keeper. On a par with some of them and dare I say better than some too. Smelt is way in front at top though :laughing6:

Patient the key word when some might have asked for a move - Long may he continue his form :bluebird:

Can't argue with any of that, plus the fact we have another good keeper in Philips, shame we can't attract strikers of the same ilk lately, but I have faith in what we have, and with a bit more time we will gel,and improve  a right back in January is a must though. :old: :bluebird:

I cheered when Smelt managed to kick the ball over the half way line.

Can’t remember the one goalkeepers name sure we loaned him from a Premiership club years ago. He only made one or two appearances. Was absolutely shocking , and he used to take a goal kick and everyone used to shout shoot because he would reach the other goalkeeper with ease!
