About Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough Football Club is a professional association football club based in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. They are currently competing in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. Formed in 1876, they have played at the Riverside Stadium since 1995, their third ground since turning professional in 1889. The club played at the Linthorpe Road ground from 1882 to 1903 and at Ayresome Park for 92 years, from 1903 to 1995.

Middlesbrough were one of the founding members of the Premier League in 1992 and became one of the first clubs to be relegated from it following the 1992–93 season. The club came close to folding in 1986 after experiencing severe financial difficulties before it was saved by a consortium led by then board member and later chairman Steve Gibson. The club's main rivals are Sunderland, Newcastle United and Leeds United.

The club's achievements include winning the League Cup in 2004, their first and to date only major trophy, and they also reached the 2006 UEFA Cup Final, losing to Spanish club Sevilla. Their highest league finish to date was third place in the top flight in the 1913–14 season and the club have only spent two seasons outside the top two divisions of English football. The League Cup win and the UEFA Cup run was part of an 11-year consecutive stay in the Premier League, before a relegation in 2009. Although the club returned in 2016, instant relegation followed.

The club's traditional kit is red with white detailing. The home shorts and sock colours have interchangeably been shifted between red and white, complementing the red shirt that was adopted in 1899. The various crests throughout the club's history, the most recent of which was adopted in 2007, incorporate a lion rampant.

2-0 City. We have better individual players and come off a very good result. Were home, and Boro have travelled considerably to two away games in the space of 4 days. We will win at home soon, and I can see it being Saturday.

Fairness, Boro also come off the back of a good result, all bar gifted to them by Bristol City, but, even given for the Warnock factor, we should be too strong for them.

I like Boro, and like Warnock. They wont be struggling this season, and really should be a top 6 side.

I think we will see a run of good results, starting two games ago at Preston. I predict a win against Boro but can never write Warnock off

Who's up for tempting fate?

Neil Warnock hasn’t won an away league match against Cardiff City since April 2006, a 1-0 victory as Sheffield United manager.

Can't help but feel a 1-0 away win today. We played well the other night but Warnock will have Wilson eyed up and other than him hard to see where a goal is coming from. Surely not ANOTHER game where our strikers don't score??

Did you make an account just to slag Moore off? 8 posts and 7 are having a dig at our strikers. These are our strikers until jan, at least. Get over it its boring.

Got a feeling they'll stick 10 players behind the ball and we'll struggle to break them down. Can see a 0-0 draw here. Hope I'm wrong and we stick 2-3 passed them.

At least we know unlike Bournemouth a Warnock side won't be outclassing us with silky smooth passing. Both sides have good defences but are a bit rubbish at scoring goals eithe a nil nil or a one nil win to either side

only 9 goals scored in their games this season...5 for 4 against... only Birmingham fans have seen less goals in their games... we have seen 10..one more.. so it doesnt exactly look like a goalfest..

What's the team news?

Lee Tomlin will once again be ruled out of this weekend's clash with Middlesbrough, having not fully recovered from his groin issue.

Greg Cunningham, meanwhile, will be out for four to six weeks owing to his hamstring tear.

Jordi Osei-Tutu and Joe Bennett, both of whom missed the midweek clash, have been training out on the grass, however they are thought to be touch and go ahead of the visit of Boro.

For the visitors, Britt Assombalonga is very unlikely to feature after picking up an injury last weekend.

Ashley Fletcher will be out until the New Year with a hamstring injury, while Grant Hall is missing with a calf injury

:bluebird: Great work from Josh Murphy, who chases one down the right flank and loops a ball over to Wilson at the back stick. The Welshman takes it on to his right and fires a shot from the edge of the box, but drags it wide.
