‘ Lee Tomlin missed tonight ‘

Lee Tomlin missed tonight with a groin injury. Saturday might be too soon, perhaps in about 10 days he will be back again.

With his injury record it was so vital to get Wilson....tomlin is now not as essential to us as he was. He will still be a key
Player and a great sub to bring on

I agree, but just imagine him and Wilson in same side.

Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery, as we have a lot of games in a very short space of time.

Obviously it's less of a worry now we have Harry Wilson, but the sooner Tomlin is back the better so we have more options tactically.

For example, I would say its likely that for some games we could see Tomlin in the number ten role and Wilson out wide.

They can decide between themselves who takes free kicks from just outside the penalty area

Having watched Wilson last night I don’t think Tomlin was missed and, actually, I struggle to see how Tomlin and Wilson can play together.

I had thought that Wilson would take one of the wide places but after last night I think he is perfect at No. 10. He needs to be on the ball in dangerous areas not out wide waiting for the ball.

I know people will say You have to find a place for your best players, well frankly Wilson is now our best player and everything else needs to be modelled around him.

The only I can see them play together is in a 352 with Wilson taking on of the strikers roles and Tomlin sat in behind.

I can't see Harris doing that as he adopts a safety first approach so I would assume Tomlin will be bench warming most of the season which is a waste

I think Wilson on the right and tomlin at number 10 would be fantastic, especially at home against certain teams. I think Wilson has been such an amazing signing especially as tomlin is looking less and less reliable fitness wise now

I think Tomlin will be used as a super sub if we’re losing or drawing a game.He has never been a 90 minute player but can change a game!

People do realise that wilson is a winger yea? There is no reason why Tomlin can't play in the no.10 role and wilson on the right. Wilson's work rate is brilliant, as we seen last night. Having wilson on the wing is no different to having hoilet or ojo playing there when Tomlin plays. We might even see some better crosses coming into the box with wilson on the wing.

It looks like Tomlin will be in and out of team all season with his groin problem. When he's fit he should play and wilson should go onto the wing, and when he's not fit wilson takes on the no.10 role. Personally, I'd be interested to see Murphy, wilson and Tomlin start across the middle. Why limit our creativity to one player at a time.

I agree with your point about Wilson being a winger, up to now. My worry from watching him previously was that he drifted in and out of the game.

But having watched him last night I just believe he would be wasted out wide, particularly at Championship level. For the first time since Whitts we have a player who is a danger anywhere within 35 yards of goal. He's also very mobile and can, and did last night, make runs off the centre forward that makes him much more dangerous than Tomlin in that position.

It would be ideal, and very exciting, to see them both in the starting eleven but I really struggle to see how Harris can accommodate that.

With his injury problems Tomlin coming in and out may also upset the rhythm of the team.

That is the excitement we have needed for a long time!

I agree, Wilson is great at number 10 but he's also a natural winger and still scores bags from out wide. We'd pull teams all over the shop if they were both on the pitch. It's worth a look for sure.

In the Preston and Bournemouth game wilson was still the only player who consistently looked dangerous with the ball. Ojo has a fair bit of possession but doesn't produce the end product. We would have creativity in the middle with Tomlin and better delivery from the wing from wilson if they both started. Tomlin was our top scorer and player of the season last season. Wilson will score and assist plenty off the wing. They would cause defenders all sorts of problems.

I'd prefer to go at a team from the start, grab a goal or 2, and pull Tomlin off after 60-70 mins to see a game out. We've been desperate for creative players and now we've got 2 game changers. If both are fit they need to start. No brainer for me

No brainer for me too. We've been such a dour side for so long it's exciting that we have two creative players now who could prove a nightmare for opposition defenders. Would like to have got Cauley Woodrow too. He can play all across the front positions, including 9 and 10. He would have given us a different type of striker to the two target men we have. It would have given us options and a bit more depth.

Exactly. We all want to see exciting attacking football and both players provide that.

Woodrow would have been a good addition but he'd probably have cost around 2-3mill+. Don't think our funds stretched that far. Hopefully if we are top6 in January we'll strengthen the squad then. Wouldnt mind giving Mark Harris a run.

I so agree - in the short time Harry has been with us I have noticed 4 or 5 occasions where he has made a darting run which would have put him in on goal but no one in the current side had the vision or quality to play that telling pass - roll on Tomlin's return - then we will see the best of Harry Wilson as a goal scorer too.
