It’s a bailout really.. but if the Airport is anything to go by, it’ll cost the taxpayer dear and further highlight the inadequacies of Govt in business. Especially this Government.

Thought it demonstrates the opposite actually. Private company walking away,government picking up the pieces(What else could it do).It will cost the tax payer thats true but the cost of the future rolling stock has already been paid for.Is there another way?Any government of any political persuasion would have to do the same so its not a political decision.

No-ones walking away... Amey rail will still carry on. Union Masters will be delighted, the workforce not.
