Anybody else a little optimistic with this team?

Even when our squad is inflicted with injuries to our full backs, it didn't seem to effect our football. We're still lumping it forward at times (which is more than anything a habit in the hope we win a cheap throw in from the defender heading it out), but against sides like Bournemouth, they're almost always going to try and keep it in play, and they did that very well.

But now that our squad has taken shape and it's evident what our shape and style of play going forward is TRYING to achieve, I have no doubt that we are in the beginning of a run of form which hopefully continues with more wins than draws. I believe Bournemouth are one of the best footballing sides in the championship this year, as well as a couple others. So a draw against a very good Bournemouth side (where I wouldn't have been surprised if we'd won after the second half performance either) really makes me optimistic for the season.

I think we have strength in depth in pretty much every position, including both full back sides considering it's only Cunningham who looks to be out for a while.

Our attack is full of options too, Glatzel for the smart intricate play, Moore for the aerial threat and hold up play, and Mark Harris with the agile more short passing play, who I believe to be a very useful player (probably preferably as a #10 rather than an out and out striker but can still play there).

I'm not going to give a synopsis of the whole squad, but I just think it's a time to be positive, not dwell on missed opportunities or 2 dropped points or games we've lost before we even signed the players we've signed. We're a much better team than we were last season, for sure.

I think if we are to get promotion he needs to find a way of getting Tomlin and Wilson in the same team.

We also need a quick striker to mix things up a bit

The squad is looking promising now all we need is Harris to put aside his defensive mind and go for it a bit more

I am encouraged

Wilson looks different class, I think we look better with Ralls and Vaulks/Bacuna in the middle they all look to get it forward immediately. We need the ball at the feet of Tomlin & Wilson as quick as possible.

Possibly 4321 as Pack looks part of the furniture

Our strength in depth is unprecedented as far as I am concerned. We have options for a multiple of strategies, scenarios etc...I do see this draw as a step forward against what I believe will be one of the auto promoted teams at a canter. The boys are working things out, unfortunately during the season but you can see an understanding forming already and the league table is very misleading at this time in any season but particularly this season. Preston, Norwich, Brentford and us will be up there with Bournemouth, Bristol, Watford and I think Reading will be good enough to stick around.

It's all about having a good squad these days .

City won’t face many teams playing decent football like Bournemouth do. They really should have won comfortably.

If only we had quick slick central midfielders like Bournemouth have to give our full backs more confidence in going forward. I thought Bagan showed great promise and I’d have him in ahead of either Bennett and Cunningham.

Seriously handicapped having no RB if Tutu is injured. Bacuna is much better in CM than Vaulks who is a weak link.

ps It’ll be a different game on Saturday when we’ll face a team with 5 at the back and long balls into our half ie Warnockball.

Good post, we have the basis of a good solid defence and have added massively upfront.

We had a good squad already and have swapped Patterson and Flint, for Benkovic and Wilson, we do really look like we have competition and options all over the pitch.

Definitely, Harris’ form would’ve seen us finish 4th last season if he’d been there from the start. He managed to get us into 6th and have a good shot at the play off final with a team that’s not much different to the current one, we’re a little bit lighter in back up but I think the players in are as good as the ones who left.

I think we've upgraded, the players in are better than the players out.

I would be optimistic if we had a striker that looked capable of scoring/running into the box.

We finished 5th.

Wilson is miles better than anything that left. Moore is class too. I also am excited to see this centre back play.
