Government petition to allow fans at football games

Tue Oct 06, 2020 5:37 pm

Thought this would be of interest to some, a petition started this morning has already had nearly 70,000 signatures. If people are interested in signing the link is below.

Whilst I do think certain lockdown measures and restrictions should remain in place I think it's foolish to allow the widespread opening of pubs, restaurants and shops 7 days a week and not allow people to attend an open air event once every 2 weeks. It's a lot easier for 6k fans in the Cardiff City Stadium to socially distance compared to the thousands of people going through St David's every day.

If it's done properly such as; 20% capacity, no away fans, socially distanced, one way systems etc. I don't see why sports clubs like football and rugby can't be allowed to accommodate spectators. 10's of thousands of people are employed by these clubs and for hundreds of thousands or potentially millions of people attending live sports is a major part of their lives.

Here's hoping for a return to normal at some point :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
