Those highlighting reducing wage bills

Fri Oct 02, 2020 10:21 am

Would be the same ones who would highlight the debt increasing and then say about some of the wages being paid to reserve players. As gutted as I am about Paterson going he was a reserve as was Etheridge.

Sadly it seems that the togetherness Warnock brought is disintegrating rapidly.

Harris was the manager who took us from mid table to playoffs and a goal away from the team who won the playoffs. Most of that team is still here and Harris has been backed with millions for a top striker.

It’s early bloody days.

Get behind the club.

Quite clearly the manager didn’t see him near the team or even one of two players he would play as striker.

Personally having seen Pato play right wing back away v Southampton he could have done us a job there or right back. But I’m not the manager.

We want to play with a certain style of football. Paterson anywhere near the team as a striker or 10 or winger doesn’t play into that.

Neil,
Our club has just received £36mill.

Of course we need to get rid of dead wood, but you also need to strengthen if you want to get back to the Premier League, we are in a better financial position than 99% of the other clubs in the Championship thanks to the £36mill.

Harris got us to 5th last season, for me he deserves to get the 3-4 players says needs :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

£1,5mill for Moore, £2mill if we are promted.
The sales of Etheridge & Paterson paid for Moore.
Wage bill reduced by £millions with players leaving.

11 first team player & 10 under 23's(seems to happen a lot) gone under Harris (in 10 months).
One player in.

No idea if it’s strong enough to take us up as I haven’t seen enough of all the teams in the championship.

Signing Kiefer Moore was huge for us I think and massively strengthened the team but losing NML (unforeseen has to be said) and now Pato going means quite clearly the squad is weaker.

It’s imperative we get Tomlin fit and Murphy fit and firing.

Think we need a decent attacking midfielder and a winger who can provide chances for moore, if we are even going to challenge for top 6.

Personally I'd be going all out for a replacement for Tomlin and either a better defensive midfielder than Pack or a better CB than Nelson. We arnt creating chances and we are gifting goals. Both need to change if we are to stand a chance.

Re: Those highlighting reducing wage bills

Harris for me has dug his own grave with his comments about it not being hard to replace pato and how the squad is stronger than last season... I can't see us being near the play offs by Christmas.. And then at that point you have to say, if we are stronger and not doing it. Its the manager and he'll have to go

Re: Those highlighting reducing wage bills

When we brought in Moore I felt we were play off candidates and possible an auto place. I don't think that now seeing these players leave and the way we have started the season.

I keep hearing about this £36m from parachute payments yet its hard to believe we have made a dent in it looking at who has come in and who has left. I'm also struggling to see how that £36m is needed to cover operating costs specially as we have got rid of quite a few plays.

I haven’t seen enough of the other sides. No one knows who will be strong or weak yet.

We started the season badly the year we won the title under Malky. After losing to the worzels it was end of the world.

Look what happened then.

Harris should have equity after what he did last season.

Also I’m not totally sure we would have got £36 million in parachute payments. The TV money was reduced significantly due to Covid so our share would have dropped. We also don’t get a third year of payments.

It even getting Moore in gets me overtly excited! This is due to the issue all last season of lack of service and creativity to frontline. Aging injury prone Tomlin is not to build a team around without any alternative. Add the fact our defence is weak and no competition for places to give them more impetus is a receipe for complacency evident by conceding goals and little the other end. Our midfield is shockingly threadbare in an attacking capacity so service to our strikers outside pieces is minimal. This form is indicative of a flirt with relegation to mid table. A huge injection of creativity is needed and giving away young experienced players in that department for pennies is not a good concept without comprehensive replacements. Bragging that it’s going to be easy is likely to leave egg on NH face . Sadly for us fans we have to live on with the consequences. NH can leave or be sacked he won’t care long term.

That figure should be £36 million based on tv revenue. But all clubs had to return monies due to no fans at the games meaning the TV deal clause kicked in which reduced the price.

No fans at football significantly affects ratings long term.

In America ratings for all sports without fans are very low.
