A Yes Man

Thu Oct 01, 2020 6:00 pm

Considering everything,Harris did a fantastic job last season. But it is also now clear he was brought in as a yes man. He had sold a number of players and our squad is now depleted. It is also clear nobody is coming in. Moore was a good signing but Ojo is not up to it and we can’t go this season with one rookie full back. In addition he had shown no interest in playing Whyte leaving us with only 2 inconsistent wingers. We needed a back up to Tomlin. When Moore is on international duty if Glatzel gets injured we have no other centre forward. Therefore letting Ward and Patto both go was ridiculous. So yes Harris is a yes man. We will struggle thus year without additions. Finally mediocre teams are not shown so much on Sky so less revenue there. All this is worrying and I fear we will be back to mediocrity despite having parachute payments. I am so disappointed. Blackburn on Saturday could be really difficult to watch.

Yes to what ? Yes to having to sell to buy players? Even man u have to do that at times! Yes to something we are not privileged to know about! Dont get this yes man buisness probably 99% of managers are yes men after all they answer to the boss/owner just the same as all employees do.... if we say no to boss/owner soon be out job same as football manages..:o

I'm sure we are all a tad disappointed with the start to this season but we need to temper that with some reality. When all is said and done, we have rid ourselves of someone who was somewhat of a fringe player under Neil Harris and he says there will be replacements by next week's transfer window closure

A win on Saturday and we'll be back on the level; a loss and the meltdown will continue ;) :ayatollah:

managers have walked out on clubs and even sued clubs for not abiding by agreements that players would not be sold without them having the final say... its a job that is normally short term , results based, and invariably the manager will carry the can if things go wrong . so therefore an experienced sought after manager will look for these guarantees when taking the job especially when how he does in one job will dictate what his nxt job looks like, if there even is a next job... . not sure Harris was in the position to be making these sort of demands...hence people calling him a yes man.. its more has no choice than yes.. but its the same result for us fans which ever you use..

Warnock spent £10mill on pack and flint last season and left us with a pretty big squad. Are people surprised that the club are now cost cutting, really? Is that harris's fault? no. Harris has kept the starting 11 together (so far) and offloaded high earners who wouldnt feature much. All relegated teams have to adjust championship life accordingly.

Seems people want us to be debt free as well as continuing to spend stupid money. Cant have it both ways. If harris being a yes man means we don't go down the same route as Wigan or sheff Wednesday and brum with point deductions then so be it.

we just got relegated from the prem..had a huge downgrade and relatively spent peanuts.. christ how low do some want our spending ?
amongst other signings..leeds loaned costa with an agreed buy for 15mill...fulham did same with reid for 11 mill.. wba bought zohore for 8 ..all with huge wages.... little old us { thats really not how i see us } took a punt on the german.. and yes pack and flint..almost everyone i know like me was gutted as giving it a proper go was what many thought...instead not bad championship players ,thats who we were buying.that apparently was who we could afford.. and people seriously expected a miracle ...
wigan btw did not have a points deduction for ffp... what happened there could happen to anyone , today, tomorrow or next year.. and we have 20 first team players , used 29 last year and 25 the year previous to that which was the least we have used in eons.. its too thin..

Yes Harris knew the score when took on job thats for sure..... fans call him a yes man because he does as hes told by tan (that's the incinuation) buying and selling players are an owners perogative after all hes the one financing club.... other matters harris makes his own decisions...... as in all walks of life if an employee doesn't like way owner runs buisness ( break promises) they can walk out.... football managers can dictate certain things to owners if big enough like Jose...... harris is not in that bracket "yet"

i agree much is probably out of his control.. but he is not doing himself any favours by yoyoing between the squad is good enough..to i need a replacement for, back to its as strong as last year. to needing more attacking options...

Aren’t we all who are employed. If you want to stay in a job to get paid.

Neil Harris to be fair tried to speak out and I had nothing but respect for him, but his Boris uturn, I lost it all immediately, def a Yes man..
Harris after last season could of been wanted by every Championship club, but if he stays a yes man with this current squad, I sadly see us below midd table.
If he brings in at least the 3 players he says he needs and spoke publicly , then, I will have respect for him.

Maybe Bolton are a better example. Or Portsmouth. Or Bury....Leeds....wrexham. many more have gone crashing down the leagues by going into administration for whatever reasons. how much do we owe Tan? What's to stop him saying tomorrow that he wants his money back and that he's not putting anymore money into the club. We spent that money last season and didn't get promoted and now it seems we are cost cutting, like the majority of teams in our position, to be more finacially stable. The alternative is gambling and spending more money and potentially racking up that debt again if we miss out on promotion. Maybe we could sell our stadium?

Don't think the harris bashing is particularly fair to be honest. We've had 2 promotions since Tan has been here and got f**k all to show for it. An ageing squad with little sell on value which is severely lacking in pace and quality, and a youth setup that has failed to produce anything for over 10 years. Yet 3 loses in the league and its all Harris's fault.

I do not think you can call Harris a Yes man,
He does done a great job, any manager would have ha d the same restrictions..
These are unprecedented tones, we need to cut our cloth accordingly.
Some supporters will find it hard to support a mid table, maybe lower table club, they won’t be used to hard time’s.
That’s all part of being a fan, we all love the glory days , however, right now, I be happy with my club still being there next season

We are all yes men, very few are not.

We all live within rules and boundaries. I have had great bosses and bad bosses, but even when i disagree respectfully or not their final word is the direction we take.
