WOW NEIL HARRIS DOES A UTURN LIKE BORIS JOHNSON DOES

Another yes man

'I support the decision of the Sale'

Neil Harris.'

Clear up comments - you were aware of what was happening and in favour of it?

NH: Was brought to my attention that a player was going to be sold without the manager knowing. That’s not the case. That doesn’t happen at this football club.

We work together as a unit, so that was the case in this scenario and I support the decision.

Understand why there was confusion?

NH: Yes I can. It clearly wasn’t meant from my side that I didn’t know what was going on. My comments were misconstrued. I had just walked off the pitch and hadn’t spoken to my CEO since 10am.

What went in the press in YorkshireLive rather than anything in Wales, I wouldn’t have been aware of.

So hopefully that cleared up my comment.

NEIL HARRIS:

Question: Callum Paterson, did he go for financial reasons?

Neil Harris: Financial reasons. Opportunity from Callum’s perspective. Pecking order, possibly, strikers in the building. We brought Kieffer Moore in at the start of the window as our main summer signing, then the pecking order adjusts.

I’ve always been very clear that if people want to go in search of first-team football I have no issue with that, I’m very understanding.

Kieffer Moore has had a great start with us, Robert Glatzel was bought for a lot of money and done well after lockdown, young Mark Harris coming through.

It’s not just about financial decisions, it’s about footballing one too.

NEIL HARRIS:

'No issue whatsoever'

Paterson, any issue with you two?

NH: No issue whatsoever. Never an issue. Callum had a great attitude to play and train, very diligent boy.

What people put on social media is no concern of mine.

So Dalman has pulled him into line.

Looks like hes giving very little away.

Whilst Dalman, Choo and Vinnie again say nothing.

Correct and Harris keeps his job.

But I believe Harris would get a job straight away if he left us now after last season, but if he stays on and we go down the table if No investment, then his cv wont look good.

Obviously received a bollocking from the hierarchy.

Shame, I have supported Harris and thought he had a backbone. I have my criticisms of Neil Warnock, but he would not have backed down like this.

Next thing Harris will be saying he "misspoke".

Personally I think NH comments could have been misinterpreted.

When asked details about the transfer he said "you know as much as I do". That doesn't mean he wasn't part of the decision. It could have ment he probably doesnt know any of the details or what stage it's at.

Few wins on the bounce and hopefully the OP will get off his back!

NH is working under bad conditions and having to protect his players, put pressure on the club for investment and keep the club happy. It's easy to sit here and slate him!

Back to Paterson

Callum Paterson, big character, difficult to replace?

NEIL HARRIS:

NH: No I don’t think so.

I understand that when a player leaves a football club and they are a fan favourite, fans say ‘Oh I didn’t want them to leave!’

But ultimately, nine times out of 10, it’s because the player wants to further their career.

So, when a personality goes out of the changing room it’s down to the others to step up.

We have got good lads, really good lads.

When players say “Oh, I really liked him, he ran around and worked a lot” - and I’m not talking about Pato here - I’m talking about every player at every club, that should be an absolute bare minimum. You can’t just like a player because they run around a lot.

You can’t just like people because they are good characters or a centre forward because they score a goal.

When a player leaves who is a big personality, we have to fill that void with people stepping into their shoes in the changing room or when you sign new players.

If we are recruiting players we are looking to bring in good characters.

CALLUM PATERSON:

Paterson has just posted this message on Instagram: "Very disappointed that I wasn’t needed any more and now it’s time to move on".

two big things that stand out for me during this was the line "Vincent tan continues to put in money to support this club" (i cant remember the exact quote, but it was along them lines) that told me, he has fallen in line.....praise the owner whilst being forced to back track on comments

the second, callum left for financial reasons, and then the big one

"i've always been very clear that if people want to go in search of first team football i have no issue with that"

for him to say that means hes now trying to say pato asked to leave, but pato's comments suggest he was told he wasnt wanted.

NH

Also true when the fans say that too.

NEIL HARRIS:

Saturday 26th September 2020

Wow

Neil Harris on Paterson: ‘You may know more than me. I've been told today that a deal is close to being agreed. If he is leaving, then we wish Pato all the best. It’s out of my hands, If he is not leaving then I look forward to seeing him on Monday. if Callum is moving on then we certainly need to replace him.’
“I have no say on those that are leaving.”

He added: "I left Callum out of the squad today because I was informed that there might be an agreement between he clubs likely to happen.”

"I am the manger of the football club and support the club in the decisions they make.”

"It's not about me as an individual it's about me having options within the squad. Callum is one of our attacking players and we need to have strength in depth during the course of the season, I don’t make the final decision on players.”

Maybe he didn’t. He came into a press conference off the back of a defeat in a game that he thought we should have won - maybe he was just pissed off when asked the question about Patterson.

His comment today is totally plausible. I’d take more from the comments that Patterson made who clearly felt he wasn’t wanted here - seems to be more of an issue with those two than with the board.

So your saying Neil Harris has only said all this to the media because we lost to Reading
And then Dalman comes out and denies it like an MP, so then suddenly Harris totally does a UTURN , Hmmmmm?

Harris also said we needed many new positions and now he says this squad is better than what finished last season

If Harris seriously believes this squad is better than last season then the Board need to seriously think about whether he is the right guy for the job.

This squad is a hell of a lot weaker . Not so much the 1st 11 but the squad as a whole has gone from guaranteed play off contenders to bog standard championship in a few weeks.

The only improvement is in the strikers

Goalkeepers, defence and wingers are much worse off

No, what I’m saying is it’s a complete nothing story - if he hadn’t said the one line ‘you might know more than me’ (which is plausible post game) there would be absolutely nothing in this story. The rest of it is what you hear football managers saying every day.

And then Patterson comments strongly suggest he wasn’t favoured by Harris - ‘I wasn’t needed anymore...good to be where I’m wanted’...looking forward to playing with a smile on my face again ’

The fact that he hadn’t been played by him this season and barely post lock down would back that up.

I suspect people are looking for more reasons to stick the knife in to the board.

Interested in the comment Mark Harris is coming on. The last game he played was on the 4th January 2020 for Wrexham in the national league before being sent back to Cardiff. Probably has played for the reserves since He is 21 and seems to be coming on at the pace of a snail moving through treacle. He hasn't played a proper competitive game for 9 months.Like everyone else I would love to see some youngsters coming through but you can't help wonder if someone was not good enough for Wreham nine months ago he must have improved a hell of a lot to ge good enough for championship football now. Might happen of course but not very likely.

so i looked at his record at Millwall and the B/Shter alarm went off... 7 months later 10 are gone ones with western super mare, one with haverford west another at cheltenham and we are down to mark harris..

If they arnt good enough he can't play them. Sure you've said that on here a few times about our youth players. Harris has been here less than a year, he can't pull youth players out of his arse straight into the starting 11. Still a poor return, but harris has involved the youngsters more than our last few managers.

Come on Annis, you know he's here as a yes man, he's here to cut the cloth.

Tan is losing millions hand over fist, his businesses are sadly suffering in the same way as all other million and billionaire's but they are money men because they know how to manipulate financial issues, can't blame em for that.

To some extent I'm glad no one has to go and watch some of the dross dished up so far, apart from 1st half against Forrest which was mighty impressive.

But I still think getting rid of Cunnigham, Bacuna, Pack, Whyte and Murphy would enable us to get some good midfielders in.

and a dirty hard man which we are sadly missing.

Nubbsy, don't upset the new agenda's buddy

Seems there aren't many who read NH comments and took it like it was obviously meant and I've read it back three times now and still cannot see what the fuss is about!

Heyho, perhaps NH is the new target because 'fans' can't get into the ground to slay off any off the players?

Re: WOW NEIL HARRIS DOES A UTURN LIKE BORIS JOHNSON DOES :lo

Fans hammering Harris for him apparently being a yes man :banghead:
Every manager is a Yes man unless your klopp or fergie these type of managers literally run their clubs.
Until we get that successful or rich our owners run the clubs and if they need to tell the manager we need to balance the books and sell a player that's 3rd choice in every position he plays im sure Harris agreed with it.
If it was ralls or morrison im guessing he'd say no to the transfer.
Why would Harris come out im the press and slate the transfer and cause alot of friction between him and the board which would no doubt effect the team and any further transfers??
I got no problem with him being a "Yes man" because every manager is and its just a pathetic thing our fans have jumped on

Warnock left us with one of the oldest squads in the division  Bellamy came out and said there was no opportunity for youth to progress. The youth setup might have been changed but that was not down to warnock. The fact that bringing down the average age of the squad is part of our transfer policy says a lot about our recent transfer history.

So because Harris has said he wants to create a pathway to the first team for youth players (isn't that what we all want?) , 7months down the line, you think we should have team full of youngsters? These are the players you defended warnock for not playing as they weren't good enough. Is it harris fault that they have not turned into championship players in the short time hes been here?

whats the age of the squad got to do with the academy not having quality... or rather his academy remarks? and no i didnt expect anything , as said i KNEW it was hot air ..., i actually believe our previous managers and academy managers. why wouldnt you when player after player when leaving goes down 4 levels or more.... thats the point isnt it.. if its not there its simply not there, if you or anyone else became ,manager tomorrow i really wouldnt expect you to magically bring players through either.... but i doubt your a bull shitter so probably your first few interviews wouldnt be full of bull shit about academy players... not unless you were pretty confident there were a few close to a first team call up anyway...

You made out as if Warnock was renown for promoting youth. Whereas its clear he prefers older and tried players.

The club have publicly said they want to bring youth through, Harris has only responded to that as well as the questions asked in press conferences regarding youth. Hes said he wants to create a pathway to the first team by reducing the squad size- the size of squad has significantly been reduced allowing that. Harrris said he wants youth players exposed to the first team - they've been involved in training, featured in pre season and played cup matches. What exactly is he mouthing off about? The next step is for youth players to play league games. If they are not good enough to make the step up, then that can't really been put down to Harris’s efforts.
