‘ QPR AFTER ONE OF CARDIFF’S TARGET ‘

Thu Oct 01, 2020 7:25 am

QPR are set to make an offer for Nottingham Forest winger Albert Adomah, according to a report on TEAMtalk, but Cardiff City are also said to be interested.

The 32-year-old grew up as a QPR supporter, and he could get his dream move if the clubs can agree on a deal.

However, Cardiff, who had the winger on loan last season, are also said to be trying to lure him back to South Wales, Cardiff would prefer to have him back on loan, whilst QPR are prepared to take over his contract.

The Bluebirds and Forest clashed during the summer when Forest insisted on recalling him from his loan spell as Cardiff battled to get into the play-offs.

Adomah was a regular under Neil Harris, who is known to be an admirer.

Forest are willing to offload Adomah, as the experienced forward enters the final year of his contract at the City Ground.

Not that I think we should be making a habit of signing 32 year old wingers but honestly, after a difficult start to the season and losing some players, I would take Albert at this stage.

We were a better team with him in last season and he can probably cross better than the other wingers on our books. In 2017/18 he had 15 assists so think he could deliver some decent crosses to Moore.

Agree a bit old but would do a decent job for a season or two.

Would provide crosses for goals.

Our new squad age profile will probably prevent his signing though

I thought he stood out last season, and was better than Junior or Laing..

Id have him back on loan as he did pretty well last season.

A telling point in the original post says that we would want him on loan but QPR are willing to take over his contract.

Forgetting the animosity between us and Forest about how the loan last season ended, why would they send him on loan when they can sell him , even if we did pay all of his wages?

I think QPR would literally just be picking up his wages so no transfer fee involved in both scenarios. As we get closer to the transfer window deadline we might see more of this as clubs will be desperate to get players off their wage bill.

I would be disappointed if we ended up with uncle Albert he is 2 years older than junior who we can see declining in front of our very eyes. May as well play Whyte and hope he is better than his showings so far

I have no faith in Harris at the best of times. I just hope this is paper talk.

Going beyond the deadline

Next week’s deadline, not one you’re working to?

NH: No, it’s a Premier League and European deadline. We may have been close to players in the past, there are Premier Leagues that might come out of other clubs but once those windows shut a bigger pool of players might become available.

It’s about getting the right characters and the right quality of player to make us better.

Please no

I'd rather give minutes to the youngsters.

Neil Harris:

– Adomah 'on the radar' but not likely in this window
– Thinks squad is as strong now as end of last year.

Joe Lolley would be a better bet? We were supposed to be interested in him last season!
