CALLUM PATERSON:

"Absolutely gutted my time at Cardiff City FC is over," the Scot wrote on Instagram. "Very disappointed that I wasn’t needed any more and now it’s time to move on.

"Massive thank you to the fans who welcomed me into the club from day one. You guys made it special for me.

"Also big shout to the team, the best guys I’ve ever been around and I am very grateful for everything we achieved together, I wish all of you guys the best.

"I’ve made the best memories and some friends for life and wish everyone all the best. Thank you."

In a further post, Paterson did reveal his excitement of having joined the Owls and claimed he was looking forward to "playing with a smile on my face again".

He wrote: "Absolutely buzzing to be here!

"Can’t wait to get started with this massive club and to show everyone what I can do.

"So grateful for the opportunity to be here and hopefully I can repay everyone with some goals and help get the club moving in the right direction!

"Looking forward to playing with a smile on my face again!"

Some of Paterson's former Bluebirds team-mates also took to social media to wish the towering forward farewell.

Will Vaulks wrote on Twitter: "Gutted about this, made me welcome from day one. Will miss the most miserable man in football a lot."

While Joe Bennett posted an emoji of a sad face alongside a photo of Paterson, Bruno Manga, Lee Peltier and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing during the promotion season, acknowledging he is the only player left at the club from that group.

With Paterson seemingly surplus to requirements, it remains to be seen whether Neil Harris will bring in reinforcements over the coming weeks.

The deadline for international transfers closes on Monday, October 5 at 11pm, however a domestic-only window remains open until October 16.
