Kieffer Moore Says There Are More Goals To Come After Opening Cardiff City Account

Sunday 20th September 2020

by Terry Philips

Kieffer Moore insisted there are plenty more goals to come after his double earned Cardiff City their first win of the season at Nottingham Forest.

The £1.5million summer signing from Wigan’s first-half double were his first for the Bluebirds.

But the striker – who has netted three times in six appearances for Wales- says there are more to come in the Championship this season.

Kieffer Moore:

“Confidence is everything in this game,” said Moore. I know I can score goals, especially in this team as they’ll keep making chances for me.

“I’m going to keep going, get my head down and get as many goals as I can.

“The lads did brilliant to get to the play-offs last season and we want to do even better this season.”

Moore bagged his first goal for the club after just three minutes with a towering header from a Marlon Pack corner.

And Moore doubled the lead five minutes before the interval when he stabbed home from close range from skipper Sean Morrison’s flick.

If Moore carries on scoring at this rate then his £2millionfee from Wigan in the summer will look like a steal.

He added: “I’m delighted with the three points and the goals. We stuck it out as they made it difficult for us second-half.

“They made it a tough game for us. Games are going to be like that where we have to see it out.

“I always try and lose my marker in the box. Thankfully I took him one way and went the other so it worked for me this time and I had a free header.

“It was great to get that chance and I was happy to score it.”

Everything I've seen about Kieffer suggests to me he is the 15+ goalscorer we haven't seen for a long time. I understand 2 goals don't make a summer but he looks like the real deal.

Only time will tell but if I was a betting man, which I am, over 15 goals this season looks a cert, barring injury. :bluebird:

Agree

Keiffer could be the quality striker we've been missing for so long! :ayatollah:

I believe if we improve our crossing he will hit 20+

Looking at his career stats, they're not that impressive but he could be one of those players who benefit from playing lower league football and is also able to adapt to playing at a higher level with comparative ease. He does appear to have the necessary skill set to prosper with us so fingers cross he does the business.

There was a palpable excitement surrounding Kieffer Moore's transfer to Cardiff City.

Neil Harris spoke incredibly enthusiastically after snatching him from the clutches of other Championship rivals, many of whom were prepared to offer more preferable financial terms, and Bluebirds fans shared his optimism.

I was quietly confident that Moore would fare well in a Cardiff City shirt, however after the Sheffield Wednesday defeat, I was left concerned by the manner in which the Bluebirds attacked the Owls' goal.

They provided no service for Moore and gave him virtually no opportunity to win his aerial duels and pose questions to the opposition defence. When he was afforded the chance he headed a free-kick narrowly wide, that was the best chance of the game.

Against Forest, though, it was a different story all together.

Cardiff, importantly, learned from their mistakes and utilised Moore to his full capability.

For his first goal, he rose miles above any other defender and drilled his header low and beyond the grasp of Brice Samba, a proper striker's goal and one which fans, sitting in their armchairs watching along, will have loved to see.

The second was a proper poacher's goal, but again came by virtue of a set piece (a long Marlon Pack throw-in - did anyone else know he had that in the locker?!).

The ball was cleared, Leandro Bacuna nodded it back in, Sean Morrison flicked it on and Moore, right on cue, poked home at the back stick.

My optimism is very much restored now. If this is how City are planning on feeding their big striker this term, he will grab a bagful of goals.

He really could be the difference between play-off contenders and being within a sniff of the top two. That is how important it is to have a striker who can get you 15-plus goals in a Championship campaign.

Jack, it makes a nice change from much of the usual diatribe as soon as it goes the other way! :ayatollah:
