Confirmed " Gareth Bale returns to Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan "

Gareth Bale will wear the number nine shirt at Spurs.

Tottenham have re-signed Wales forward Gareth Bale from Spanish champions Real Madrid on a season-long loan.

Bale, 31, left Spurs for a then world record £85m in 2013 and went on to score more than 100 goals and win four Champions Leagues with Real.

He originally joined Tottenham as a 17-year-old from Southampton in 2007 for an initial payment of £5m.

Bale has also won two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, three Uefa Super Cups and three Club World Cups with Real.

He remains the most expensive British player in history, as well as the top-scoring British player in La Liga - with 80 goals and 40 assists in 171 league appearances, averaging a goal or assist every 104 minutes.

Real Madrid say:

"Real Madrid C. F. and Tottenham Hotspur FC have agreed to the loan of Gareth Bale for next season, until 30 June, 2021.

Our club wishes the best of luck to a player who is part of one of the most successful periods of our history."

Bale, 31, left Spurs for a then world record £85m in 2013 and went on to score more than 100 goals and win four Champions Leagues with Real.

"It's nice to be back. It's such a special club to me. It's where I made my name," said Bale.

"Hopefully, now I can get some match fitness, get under way and really help the team and, hopefully, win trophies."

Spurs said Bale has signed for them with a knee injury sustained playing for Wales earlier this month and they "anticipate that he will be match fit after October's international break".

That would mean the forward missing their next five games, with the club's first outing following the international break at home to West Ham on 17 October.

Bale turned up to training before leaving Madrid, and wished the team and manager good luck for the season, and I have just read zidane didn't even speak to him, what a pr@ck that man is!! Needs to grow the f up,he has got his wish,so be decent and shake the man's hand?? You can snigger all you like once he has gone!

Anyway, let's hope he settles in well,as that can only be good for Wales, he's not losing any money either,as spurs are only paying 40% of his wages,so it's still costing real, even though he ain't there ;) :old: :bluebird:

Sounds like he won't be available for them for about a month, due to an injury he has.

When he's fit and playing for them, I think he'll do extremely well. Him linking up with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son will be a great front three.

Mourinho is also probably the right manager for him at the moment as well.

Spurs fans already idolise Gareth Bale. It's a win-win for all involved I think.

Some people in life are just complete knob ends.....and that ZZ geezer is definitely one of them.

Good luck Gareth, I hope he tears the PL apart which will also translate into taking Wales onwards and upwards.
