same here... i think the academy obsession with some revolves around a relatively small period of time where our area was rich in talent that never happened before and might not happen for ages again...

The idea is academies should be the stepping stone,I know reading have produced umpteen players who have gone on to play for the 1st team,but very few get sold for big bucks! We will produce the odd nugget,but we also need to be scouting further afield than the uk.![]()

I though academies had to recruit local lads within travelling distances?

Well 3 of the kids at my sons age group trained at Bath and played every week for the academy Angus O’brain his best mate being one of them who now plays rugby for the Scarletts They definitely trained academy players there
