Whitt’s is a City legend but he is the seventh on the most appearances list so it’s ridiculous to retire his shirt and the other 7? the player who wears the the no 7 should be reminded of it’s history!

Perhaps we have retired number 15 by mistake?

No bigger fan of Whitt’s than me and I have to agree with you.
This talk of retiring shirts is ridiculous.

I know his shirt is retired by Nantes, but whether it's the player you're thinking of? Emiliano Sala?

no mate...i hadnt really considered ES because he did not play for us and its still unsure if he was officially a Cardiff player....the fella i have in mind played for us in the 70s... and made more apps for ourselves than he did for any other club....
i did think there might be a few guesses..

I had a feeling it wouldn't be Sala, 70's is before my time so I'm out of guesses

the player is Clive Charles and the club Portland Timbers.. the number 3 shirt...think retiring the shirt was more down to his contribution coaching there alongside ex City keeper Bill Irwin...
