City still want money and understandably, but could end up with Etheridge staying on high wages and not playing for us, catch 22 situation

Hopefully there is still room for negotiating over price...if we don t sell him by Oct 16 he will go for nothing

Why not loan him to them, with option to buy at end of season, but they stump up his wages? :old: :bluebird:

Can't let him go for free! :(

That would be a poor decision and give any team he joins a big boost; a class keeper in this Division :ayatollah:

Interesting idea.

However, I'm not sure we can have an option to 'sell' an out of contract player? The Bosman rules allow a player (in this case Etheridge) to sign a pre-contract with a new club with zero transfer fee six months before the end of their present contract running out. The club (CCFC) would be helpless to stop this.

We could presumably loan him to Birmingham and charge a £1m loan fee and save £1.25m in wages which IMO would be a much better option if Birmingham agree
