Just shows the level of the Scottish league. I'd put Rangers and Celtic at our level. Playoffs and potentially auto promotion. No way they'd survive in the Prem

I can see your point.

But the fact is if they were in the English football pyramid, they would have a lot more money coming in than they do in Scotland.

If they made it into the Premier League they would have the money to attract better players. Each of their club's history and size of their fanbase would also attract high quality players, as well as the fact that they would be playing in a league which is more high-profile than in Scotland.

All hypothetical though obviously, because they will probably never be in the English pyramid.

If they were in England they would be big 6 clubs as the money they would be making would be ridiculous.

Their main problem other than lack of significant money from TV in Scotland is that the league is absolutely piss poor. So when they come up against decent teams from more competitive leagues such as Hungary they will struggle. Particulary in a no fans enviroment they have always been decent at punching above their weight at home in Europe because of their atmosphere but have always been found out away from home.

I always get a chuckle when I see Welsh people slag off the Scottish leagues. There’s clubs in the 3rd and 4th tiers of Scotland that pull in bigger crowds than teams in the Welsh top flight.
As for Rangers and Celtic, with EFL/PL money they would both be top half Premier League teams.

Yeah, good point well made but there are similar clubs to Rangers and Celtic that have struggled for years in the Championship, look at Leeds.

You are right though, this is like the "boxer in their prime" argument. We'll probably never know sadly.

The Welsh league aren't as confident they're amazing teams as Celtic are, then they play a team in Europe that's half decent and lose every time.

A- unlike Scotland the Welsh teams from the biggest population areas play in the English league.

B- unlike Scotland their is only one fully professional team in the Welsh league and they (TNS) are based in England

C- Football is without doubt the national sport of Scotland and the same can’t be said of Wales.

D- Many areas of Scotland are a lot more isolated from the big English clubs than Wales so people are far less likely to be travel to watch a big English clubs.

All pretty common sense.

And all reasons why I find it funny when Welsh people readily slag off the Scottish league. I’m not sure what your point is? Their league is far superior to our own and will be for decades to come

thing is the Welsh league is what it is, nobody pretends and says on regular intervals TNS would be a top 6 club in England... would the 2 Scottish clubs be ? its far from the slam dunk some people think..

With the same funding as the other PL clubs, potentially. Celtic get bigger crowds than Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Rangers have been getting nearly 50k crowds for years. Obviously crowd size isn’t everything but it would give them a big boost compared to most bottom half teams.

people been saying this for 50 years or more....
but would they ? give them a decade like Sunderland had of relegation battles and i doubt theyd get the 40kplus Sunderland had the year they eventually went down... its one thing filling the ground when you win every week... but look Celtics attendances in the 80s and 90s... when they were ONLY winning the odd title.. 83/84 had an 18k average and one attendance was 4k.. because they hadnt won the league for 2 years. and lots of 20k averages in the 90s...

The only person comparing them was you so I pointed out how ridiculous it was to do so. The Welsh professional clubs play in the English league system. Hence obviously the Welsh league is going to be nothing more than amateur football.

Scottish football is absolute dog turd. That is the bottom line.

Celtic fans are by far the biggest embarrassment in British football. Celtic would be lower championship in terms of their current standard

Either would need a massive cash injection, over and above PL TV money (prob to the tune of £300m-£500m) to consistently gain top half prem status. That would not be possible under current financial investment rules. The reality is it would not be any different to us claiming we could be a top half prem side
