Kieffer Moore scores twice in his first Cardiff City game in pre-season win over Newport County

The Bluebirds played two 50-minutes matches against the Exiles on Tuesday

Kieffer Moore got off to the perfect start in a Cardiff City shirt as he bagged a double in Cardiff City's pre-season victory over Newport County.

The Bluebirds faced the Exiles in two 50-minute matches on Tuesday afternoon, winning the first game 1-0 courtesy of a Robert Glatzel strike and the second 2-0 thanks to Moore's efforts.

New signing Jordi Osei-Tutu, who today signed on a season-long loan from Arsenal, also made his first appearance in a Bluebirds shirt.

Despite Newport's strong start, it was Cardiff who broke the deadlock first.

Josh Murphy picked out Junior Hoilett with a long ball forward before the winger found striker Glatzel, who buried his chance past Newport keeper Tom King.

That first goal came after King had denied an earlier chance, when Glatzel fired a powerful header on target. It seems the striker enjoyed an impressive outing, too, when Joss Labadie had to throw his body in the way of another Glatzel attempt late on to deny him his second.

That brought an end to the first game and Neil Harris rang the changes for the second, including the introduction of Moore.

Young striker Mark Harris played a big part in setting up the opener for Moore when the Welsh youth international played a delicate ball into the path of his strike partner, who curled expertly past King into the far corner.

Moore, donning the No.10, would then get the chance to double his personal tally for the day from 12 yards out after Labadie was adjudged to have fouled City captain Sean Morrison in the penalty area.

The Wales international, who was also included in Ryan Giggs' Wales squad for next month's Nations League clashes with Finland and Bulgaria, converted from the spot to cap off a confidence-boosting first outing in a Bluebirds shirt.

While it is not quite the task he will face in the Championship, a brace on debut will certainly settle at least some nerves for the Wales international.

Gary Madine didn't manage that in all his game time here. That included friendlies.
I wonder if Madine even scored in training?
