UPDATED: ‘ No fans allowed in Cardiff City stadium until ‘

Mon Aug 24, 2020 12:39 pm

No fans allowed in stadium.Covid testing site will be there until at least March next year and away car park is going to be flu testing centre from end of September.only area of ground allowed access is Grandstand they had started to label seats but it's been rejected by Welsh government now.

Don't know where we stand with season tickets already purchased?

Updated:

The club had labelled seats with 3 seats gap between people, 1 way systems on aisles but afraid fans would not abide by new restrictions.
I can't say where I got info from sorry.

Where did you hear NO fans this season?

As i know for a fact Cardiff are trying to get some fans in at the end of October, theyve failed for September.

Personally I dont see fans going in the stadium this year, but thats only my opinion.

Thanks for the update, really appreciated and sorry yes you said till March .

I had heard strong rumours of this and your prob spot on.

I never actually believed we would be allowed any fans this year in the Stadium or in January, just more hope that maybe a few months of fans.

Things hopefully will change in in 2021 :thumbright: :bluebird:

Annis can us swans & nport financially sustain no fans until later in year or longer? I suspect fans will want refund on this season tickets, although I can keep credit for year after how many fans can? I read that there are 5 to 8 championship clubs outside ffp rules already because of no fans...

Allan,

I see players wages dropping drastically in the leagues and the whole of Europe, that is a good thing :thumbright: as they are well over paid.

We are one of the lucky clubs this coming season thanks to the parachute payments.

But many clubs don’t have that and we might gain success sadly by other clubs virtually being more than skint.

Football will not be in a good state from our league down

Unless this applies to all EFL clubs, then I can’t see how this could be the case.

If (as message suggests) it is because the club is a COVID testing facility we’d would be massively disadvantaged v other EFL clubs who could make match day revenue. The club would surely look for compensation from a financial POV, but it would also call into question sporting integrity if we had no home fans but other teams do in the reverse fixture.

Equally if it is an issue that applies to all Welsh clubs and sports, but not English or Scottish it will be very hard for the Welsh Govt to justify for the reasons outlined above.

Moore apparently taken wage cut to come to city even though was offered more by others?
As for testing centre part dont think that's a problem as upto city if keep it there, it just happens to be big enough to have everything in same place thats why used it's not mandatory as technically its private land.. so hopefully drakeford sees how absurd it is having rest uk with fans and not Wales and fans get in asap along with rest uk

100% up to Cardiff if they keep the testing centre :thumbright:

Clubs like Newport and Swansea will suffer more than us.

Personally I don’t see fans properly in our stadium this side of Xmas, due to Winter coming and Govts worried virus will get worse.

Can only see st holders in before xmas as flu deaths will get counted as corvid deaths,
which will mean restrictions kept on social gatherings... not only football either...as for swans nport going to be tough going for them like you say...

Allan, I can’t see more than 10,000 being allowed in before the end of this season and that’s being positive.

Sounds a bit suspect when you consider the UK are inches away from being given a vaccine, where China have slowly introduced a vaccine to their key workers since July.

I find it a bit unrealistic to suggest fans won’t be allowed in until March lol.
Lets be fair, it’s incredibly likely that socially distanced fans will be allowed in by October, just based off facts.
If you wanna guess that ZERO fans won’t be allowed in until March then that’s a fairly poor guess.

Be interesting as I've said before ccs is best stadium outside couple in premiership that can accommodate fans safely in numbers! Whilst we possibly accommodate say 8k other grounds cannot due to how small concourse and entrances are ...
And getting to stage where not missing going thats another factor to consider...

Trouble is politicians ect only think about the rich players but forget the other factors like communities peoples mental health not to mention the thousands of jobs that rely on fans for survival .... looking like sports is expendable in eyes if politicians

yes i do too... 7th tier and below had small crowds last weekend with an increase to a 600 max this weekend.. and the grounds your talking about have capacities as little as 2 thousand.. and although its said it is in no way a trial for pro sport ,
long term it makes no sense to me that 600 can attend a small old stadium with hardly any facilities but a new modern stadium with very good facilities are allowed zero fans..

Outside of Wembley I cant think of many grounds I have been on where there is so much space in the concourse area which is a major factor in allowing games to go on. So if we cant play, how can anyone else be allowed to? If the sole reason was because Drakeford chose to impose stricter rules there would be uproar. Perhaps we could use Ashton Gate!!
