Last year's ST credit

Sat Aug 22, 2020 3:35 pm

Hi all, am I right in thinking that if you were credited back some money to your account last season through one of the options then that credit could be used for season tickets, half season tickets, flex tickets and match day tickets this year? The reason I ask is because one of the boys phoned up yesterday and was told because it wasn't used by 30th July then it was now null and void. Cheers

It's ok I think what it's because he didn't decide by 30th June and his money went to the academy.

Yes it was plainly stated on website if nothing chosen by certain date it will go to academy.... not sure how legally binding that is as club unable to honour contract... could try asking again pleading his case be interesting to see if club back down

If legally the club are obliged to refund the money in the first place - its not certain they are, but its probable, under the rules of "frustration of contract" - then they can't impose this sort of condition on their website and you are entitled to a refund.

I'm sure you could argue didn't see or read it... normally conditions are at time of sale not after you've paid for it in good faith and dont get what paid for.. but upto individuals to test the club on this

It if you are subscribing to getting emails from club? There us a feature that lots use called unsubscribe! Point is cannot assume people have read or know about the refund options especially as in this case he has not bought a st before deadline... obviously the ownus is on supporters to act on information given.. but not sure club can refuse to give money back if requested as fan didn't get to see games through a gvmnt law ect ! Anyway be interesting to se if someone challenges this..

To be fair to the club, I had already chosen 'Option 2' but then had a very welcome phone call (from Laura) to let me know I had until close of play that day to request the refund on booked hospitality or it would go into the Academy :thumbright:

I chose the refund/voucher on both occasions not because I don't support the Academy (I see it as vital to the club going forward) but because the club itself should make that investment in their own future interests and not cajole supporters into making a contribution is such a way

The club are relatively solvent these days, unlike a lot of their Covid-19 affected supporters, and it was (IMHO) a cheap shot to try and keep money from unattended season ticket games

That's not withstanding that the players themselves have only taken a 'deferral' and not a physical 'pay cut' in real terms over the period of their contracts; something that appears to have stayed 'low key'

Yes Chris, I noticed the deferred wages of the players not a pay cut
