Liverpool hatch secret plan to sign Sancho

Liverpool could make a move to sign Jadon Sancho next summer if a move to Manchester United doesn't materialise, according to reports.

As mentioned above, the winger's Manchester move appears to have hit an impasse, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side exploring a number of options if the deal falls through.

Now, The Express report that Jurgen Klopp will be hoping no such deal comes to fruition as he is hatching a covert plan to go under the radar and sign the player next summer.

The Reds, who won the Premier League this season, have been extremely frugal in the transfer market over the last 18 months, having spent only £20m on Takumi Minamino and Kostas Tsimikas.

It was thought that a striker was high on Klopp's list of priorities this summer, chiefly because the Africa Cup of Nations was due to take place in January, which would have taken Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah away for a month or so.

However, with that tournament now having been pushed back to 2022, the need for forward might not be so pressing and the report claims Klopp is willing to bide his time until next summer, when he will move for Englishman Sancho.

Klopp even gave a subtle hint that Liverpool's big transfer plans may be on hold when talking about a potential move for Sancho recently.

"A red jersey would look very good on Jadon Sancho," he said. "But I don’t think such a transfer will take place this summer."
