Neil Harris believes new signing Kieffer Moore will be a key cog in Cardiff City's transition process as they bid to secure promotion next term.

The striker signed a three-year deal with the Bluebirds last week after Wigan accepted a bid in the region of £2m from Cardiff for the Wales international's services.

He is set to link up with his new teammates for the first time on Monday when Cardiff begin pre-season training, and Harris says it's vital that the Bluebirds don't stand still following their semi-final play-off heartache against Fulham last month.

NEIL HARRIS:

"We're a club that is still transitioning, but is moving forward," said Harris.

"We've got a dressing room with a good reputation. People see a good camaraderie on the pitch, a togetherness and a desire to win.

"I felt that we improved month after month, dragging ourselves into the play-offs and getting close to promotion.

"I think it's important that we don't stand still.

"It says a lot about Kieffer as well, for wanting to come and be a part of that at Cardiff City.

"He's played here in club football and on the international stage, seen the passion from the fans, and was drawn to come and play here.

"I think there's more to come from him and it's a huge positive step."

Ahead of their return to training, young duo Mark Harris and Tom Sang have both signed one-year contract extensions with the Bluebirds.

Cardiff boss Harris says the pair now have the chance to impress after putting pen to paper on fresh terms.

"We've signed Mark Harris and Tom Sang on new contracts for next season, which will really help their development," added the Cardiff boss.

"We've brought in a senior, established Championship striker in Kieffer Moore, but are also continuing to show faith in the younger players coming through.

"We want to achieve and I do feel that Kieffer can add another element to us, competing in the front line with Robert Glatzel, Callum Paterson and a young Mark Harris, improving all the time."
