Its part of a WOL story that quotes the Gaffer as saying there were a couple of better offers on the table but decided to come here anyway.Should endear him to alot of people on here who were lining up to slag him off not so long ago.

That's possibly true, and not arguing that, but what clubs would or could afford those type of wages now?
Did anyone hear Harris actually say it?
Covid has battered club finances and how many of the interested clubs have parachute payments to supplement their income?
Millwall, Stoke, Middlesbro, Preston, Derby, QPR are the mentioned interested clubs.
Also it is a Walesonline story so truth and their news output are very far apart in reality.

no idea what Harris said, but reading local press from areas of those mentioned clubs earlier this week the recurring thing was his wage demands..so i doubt we got him cheap.. personally if Harris sees him as being important enough to be our only purchase this summer i dont think it matters if we had to go 2k a wk more or had him 2k a week less than another club ..

Agree. Our parachute payment is even more than an advantage due to covid. With very limited income streams none of the above would be able offer significantly better terms than us. Derby are already sailing close to the FFP rules, Stoke have had a huge wage bill in last two years and are down to a small parachute payment this year, Preston aren't a rich club, Millwall likewise. Not sure what QPR position is but over last few years they have had financial and FFP. Maybe Middlesbro might risk a big wage bill as they look to back Warnock.
All things being roughly equal the fact that he can easily link up with the Wales squad may have been the deciding factor.

This is a good signing who was wanted by numerous championship clubs if the reports are true
Always plays well for his Country, was very good against us and I know from people at the game he gave the Leeds defence a torrid time at Ellend Road
Proven at this level, I am very optimistic about this signing
