Cardiff City FC is pleased to confirm that Mark Harris and Tom Sang have extended their stays at the club.
The City pair, both 21 years of age, have signed one-year extensions to their deals at CCS.
A product of the Academy, Harris has made three first-team appearances for the Bluebirds to date. The Welsh youth international has also enjoyed spells on loan at Newport County, Port Vale and Wrexham.
Sang, who joined the Bluebirds' U23s at the start of 2019/20, made his first-team debut in an FA Cup Fourth Round replay against Reading later in the same campaign.
After the young Bluebirds put pen to paper, City boss Neil Harris said: "We've signed Mark Harris and Tom Sang on new contracts for next season, which will really help their development.
"We've brought in a senior, established Championship striker in Kieffer Moore, but are also continuing to show faith in the younger players coming through."

I hope these lads get a chance next season.
At 21 they should really be looking to get into the match squad on a regular basis as they are at an age where they need to be kicking on in their careers very soon now.
Good luck to them both - would be great to see some academy talent pushing for a first team place.

Anyone seen them play ?
Early 20's then you would want to be in the match day squad whatever club you are at.
Other than Aaron Ramsey - can anyone remember any play that has come from the academy and made it to the 1st team on a regular basis ? - I cant

From the people I've spoken to in the past within the academy, Tom Sang could go on to be a great player and there was outside interest from him but he had a good conversation with Neil Harris.
Not heard much about Mark Harris.

Don't really know about Tom Sang but a bit amazed that we offered a new contract to Harris. He was last on loan at Wrexham in the National league. He started off quite well for them scoring three goals in his first four games then none at all for the next 19 games seeing him dropped and sent back to Cardiff by their new manager. Wrexham may well have been relegated if the season had not ended prematurely. We would not sign Wrexhams best player so why offer a new context to someone not good enough to play for them? He was not paticularly good at Newport or Port Vale either.
Let's be honest this sounds like the cv of someone who will be playing for Barry or Hereford in a year or two.

He's an attention seeking saddo mate. Not worth responding to.

I’ve seen Mark Harris a few times. I actually think he’s decent and there’s a player there, just needs the right fit. He’s direct, not afraid to go past a player and has a neat finish on him. I’m not sure Newport’s style of play suited him, he’s a much more of a player who likes it played on the deck. I’d like to see him with players such as Tomlin and ralls playing passes to him. Also could link up nicely with Moore. Definitely worth a one year contract and the chance to prove himself.
I doubt Warnock fancied him cause he’s too lightweight, but Harris may see him differently.

Cheers

As I said, don't know much about Harris but they are very encouraging comments

I to have seen Harris play a few times and I fully agree with your assessment. As said he is direct, quick, finishes well and is a brilliant penalty taker. Despite being more of an 'on the deck' type of player he is also good in the air when required.
He also seems very confident which will help him get over any perceived failures at Wrexham and Newport. All I would add is it is no good extending his contract and then not giving him a chance to play. At 21 and in the current circumstance he should be a natural option to replace Vassell who I doubt will ever play for us again due to injury concerns.
