There has also been a change to the Carabao Cup for the upcoming campaign

Fixtures for the 2020/21 Championship season will be released at 9am on Friday, August 21.
The previous campaign didn't officially conclude until Fulham secured a 2-1 victory over Brentford in the play-off final at Wembley on Tuesday, August 4.
But owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the turnaround between seasons is significantly shorter than usual this time around.
And ahead of the return of the EFL, bosses have confirmed the fixture lists for the Championship, League One and League Two will be revealed in full at the end of next week.
The new campaign is set to begin on the weekend of September 12.
The 2020/21 season will conclude on May 8 and 9, 2021, with the play-off finals reverting back to the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May.
Meanwhile, round one of the Carabao Cup will take place on the weekend of September 5 - subject to international call-ups - with the draw being shown live on Sky Sports on August 18.
A raft of changes to the competition have been announced, with two legged semi-finals being replaced by a single tie.
The first four rounds are now scheduled to take place on consecutive weeks, kicking off in early September.
Premier League sides will enter the competition in round two or round three if they are competing in European competition next term.
Elsewhere, there will be no FA Cup replays during the 2020/21 season to ease pressure on the football calendar.
Watford, Bournemouth and Norwich City will be among the list of opponents for both Cardiff City and Swansea City after the trio were relegated from the Premier League.
Coventry City, Rotherham United and Wycombe Wanderers were the three sides to gain promotion from League One

If memory serves me right, I think the last time that happened was when Burnley were relegated, late 60's/early70's. City 2-0 up at half time, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

We beat West Ham at their ground 9 years ago on the opening day of the season after they got relegated - Kenny Miller got the winner

You are correct about the Burnley match but not sure if it was the last time we played a side coming down. I remember the match. I think Leighton James had just started making a name for himself. The season went downhill after half time of that first game! We had just missed out on promotion the season before - that was the season we beat Real Madrid- but somehow ended up nearly going down 12 months later.
